Abstract: An image display apparatus includes: a display panel; an LED substrate disposed on a back surface side of the display panel and on which an LED is mounted; a relay substrate disposed on the back surface side and on which a circuit unit is mounted; a first metal member disposed on the LED substrate and electrically connected with the LED; a second metal member disposed on the relay substrate, electrically connected with the circuit unit; and a reflective sheet that is electrically insulative and disposed between the display panel and both of the LED substrate and the relay substrate so as to cover at least the first metal member and the second metal member, the reflective sheet reflecting light from the LED toward a back surface of the display panel. When the first metal member and the second metal member are fitted with each other, an index hole is covered.

Abstract: An image display device includes a display panel, a space portion, an illuminator, a controller, and an illuminance sensor. The display panel is switchable between an image display mode in which an image is displayed and a transmissive mode in which the display panel is in a transmissive state where a back side of the display panel is visible in a front view. The space portion and the illuminator are provided behind the display panel. The illuminator emits illumination light to the space portion. The controller controls the illuminator. The illuminance sensor detects an ambient illuminance of the image display device. The controller performs illumination control for causing the illuminator to emit illumination light with a brightness that is in accordance with a result of detection by the illuminance sensor when the display panel is operating in the transmissive mode.

Abstract: A method of controlling a display device is a method for controlling a display device including a light modulation sheet switchable between a transparent state and an opaque state. When an operation to turn on the display device is obtained, a PWM waveform for generating an alternating voltage based on a direct voltage is output, the alternating voltage having a duty cycle of 50% at a phase of 0 degrees or 180 degrees, the alternating voltage is generated from the direct voltage, based on the PWM waveform output, and the alternating voltage generated is output to the light modulation sheet.
