Abstract: The present disclosure provides a novel power-generating element that is advantageous from the maintenance-free point of view. A power-generating element according to the present disclosure includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a solid electrolyte. The first electrode splits water. The solid electrolyte is placed between the first electrode and the second electrode. Ions generated by the splitting of the water at the first electrode are conducted toward the second electrode through the solid electrolyte. The splitting of the water at the first electrode and the generation of the ions in the solid electrolyte cause a potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode, so that electrical energy is supplied to the outside of the power-generating element.

Abstract: An ion conductor of the present disclosure includes a Li ion as a Li ion conductive species, and a layered framework structure containing Al, Si, and O, the Li ion being located between layers in the layered framework structure. A battery of the present disclosure includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. At least one selected from the group consisting of the positive electrode, the electrolyte layer, and the negative electrode includes the ion conductor of the present disclosure.
