Abstract: A variable magnification optical system includes: in order from an object side, a first lens unit having a positive refractive power; a second lens unit having a negative refractive power; a third lens unit having a positive refractive power; and an image-side lens unit. The image-side lens unit includes a lens belonging to a first region and a lens belonging to a second region. At a time of changing magnification, the second lens unit and the third lens unit move.
