Abstract: An ultrasound device includes: an ultrasound generator; an ultrasound probe; and a distal end treatment portion capable of forming a bone hole when pressed against a bone. The distal end treatment portion includes a base portion, and a distal end portion. The distal end portion includes projections and a valley portion between adjacent projections. Each projection is formed of at least one excision surface that is inclined from a base of the projection to a distal top of the projection. The excision surface is capable of finely crushing the bone. The valley portion includes a valley peak at a distal-most meeting point of adjacent projections such that a surface of the valley extending distally from a point at which the valley meets an outer surface of the base portion to the valley peak is inclined.

Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed to an ultrasonic probe comprises a probe main portion configured to transmit ultrasonic vibration generated by an ultrasonic transducer. A treatment portion is configured on a distal side of the probe main portion along a longitudinal axis thereof. The treatment portion includes first direction surfaces disposed in a first direction intersecting the longitudinal axis and second direction surfaces that are adjacent to the first direction surfaces and are disposed in a second direction different from the first direction surfaces. The first direction surfaces further includes a plurality of surfaces formed into a staircase shape when being viewed from the treatment portion and one or more surfaces formed into a staircase shape when being viewed from a side opposed to the distal side of the treatment portion. The second direction surfaces further includes a plurality of surfaces formed into a staircase shape toward the distal side.

Abstract: An ultrasound probe includes a probe body, and a treatment unit. The treatment unit includes: a cutter that is provided at a distal end part of the treatment unit and that cuts the bone according to move of the treatment unit along a longitudinal axis in a state where ultrasonic vibration is being transmitted to the probe body; and a path that is provided in the treatment unit and through which debris of a bone that is cut by the cutter are discharged along the longitudinal axis toward a proximal end side with respect to the cutter. The path includes a first opening that is provided in a distal end surface of the cutter; and a second opening that is provided in a side surface part of the treatment unit, wherein the path allows the first opening and the second opening to communicate.

Abstract: A method of performing a procedure on a meniscus, via an ultrasonic surgical tool. The ultrasonic tool includes a probe capable of transmitting ultrasonic vibration from a proximal end toward a front end. The probe includes a bent portion that is inclined with respect to a longitudinal axis of the probe, and a procedure portion that is disposed at the front end of the probe and has a plurality of cutting surfaces. The method includes: inserting the probe in a body; moving the probe through a space in between the femur and the tibia to position the procedure portion adjacent to the horizontal rupture in the meniscus; positioning a cutting surface of the procedure portion on a posterior portion of the meniscus; and resecting the horizontal rupture along an inclination of the meniscus to form an inclined resection plane.

Abstract: An energy supplier of an ultrasonic treatment system can output an electric power in a first output mode and a second output mode in which the electric power supplied to a drive force generation unit during a unit time is higher than in the first output mode. A controller maintains an output state of the electric power in the first output mode when a judgment section judges that a load on an ultrasonic probe is less than or equal to a threshold, and switches the output state of the electric power to the second output mode when the judgment section judges that the load is more than the first threshold.

The horn expands amplitude of vibration output from a distal end of the distal end extending portion to be larger than a maximum amplitude at an antinode of vibration in the first relay unit or the proximal end extending portion.
