    Abstract: An electrochemical device, including a positive electrode, where the positive electrode includes a positive electrode current collector, a first protective layer, and a first positive electrode active material layer. The positive electrode current collector includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other, and the first protective layer is disposed between the first surface and the first positive electrode active material layer. The first surface includes a first region and a second region, where the first region is provided with the first positive electrode active material layer, and the second region is not provided with the first positive electrode active material layer. An area of the first region is A1 cm2, an area of the second region is A2 cm2, and an area of the first protective layer is A3 cm2, satisfying: 0.5≤A3/(A1+A2)≤1. The electrochemical device of this application has significantly improved safety performance.

    Abstract: An electrochemical device includes a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator disposed between the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate. The first electrode plate includes a current collector, a tab, and an active layer. The tab is electrically connected to and extends out of the current collector. The active layer is disposed on a surface of the current collector. The active layer includes a first active layer and a second active layer. In a first direction, the first active layer is located on a side of the second active layer facing the tab, and is adjacent to or partially overlaps the second active layer. In a second direction, the first active layer and the second active layer extend in a strip shape. The cohesive force of the first active layer is greater than the cohesive force of the second active layer.

    Abstract: A separator includes a porous substrate and an inorganic coating layer disposed on at least one surface of the porous substrate. The porous substrate includes fibers. The fibers are made of a material including at least one of polyethylene or polypropylene. A diameter of the fibers is 0.01 μm to 0.70 μm. A diameter difference between any two fibers ranges from 0 μm to 0.40 μm. The inorganic coating layer includes a polymer and inorganic particles. The polymer includes at least one of styrene-butadiene rubber, a polyacrylate ester, or a polyolefin. The polymer can be modified by a functional group. The modifying functional group includes at least one of —OH, —COOH, or —NH. The above settings improve the infiltration effect of the electrolyte solution for the separator and the capability of the separator in retaining the electrolyte solution, thereby improving the cycle performance of the electrochemical device.
