Abstract:
An assistive device and method for non-visually discerning a three dimensional (3D) real-world area surrounding a user, includes a haptic feedback interface. The assistive device receives input to establish a mapping of a plurality of objects within a proximity range to at least one haptic element of the plurality of haptic elements in a defined region of the haptic feedback interface. Further, the assistive device merges two or more nearby relevant objects in the plurality of objects as one object so as to map the one relevant object to a corresponding haptic element of the set of haptic elements in the touch-discernible feedback. Furthermore, the assistive device adjusts sizes of the plurality of objects to map the plurality of objects with a set of haptic elements of the plurality of haptic elements while merging the two or more nearby relevant objects.
Abstract:
An assistive device and method for non-visually discerning a three dimensional (3D) real-world area surrounding a user, comprises a haptic feedback interface. The assistive device receives input to select a mode in the assistive device and based on the selected mode, determines each of a plurality of objects within a first proximity range of the assistive device as a relevant object or a non-relevant object to obtain a set of relevant objects and a set of non-relevant objects. The assistive device determines a scaling factor based on the first proximity range and the selected mode, and further adjusts sizes of the set of relevant objects to map the set of relevant objects with a set of haptic elements of the haptic feedback interface. The assistive device generates touch-discernible feedback on the haptic feedback interface to enable the user to non-visually discern the 3D real-world area surrounding the user.
Abstract:
An assistive device and method for non-visually discerning a three-dimensional (3D) real-world area surrounding a user, comprises a haptic feedback interface that includes a plurality of haptic elements. The assistive device receives sensor data of the 3D real-world area within a first proximity range of the assistive device from a plurality of different types of sensors that are communicatively coupled to the assistive device. The assistive device establishes a mapping of a plurality of objects within the first proximity range to the plurality of haptic elements in a defined region of the haptic feedback interface, based on the received sensor data. A haptic feedback generator generates a touch-discernible feedback on the haptic feedback interface based on the established mapping. The touch-discernible feedback comprises a plurality of differential touch-discernible cues to enable the user to non-visually discern the 3D real-world area surrounding the user.

Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for sharing modulation information between multiple access points may include receiving modulation control information and demodulation control information at an access point comprising one or more receivers and one or more transmitters. One or more modulation frequencies may be adjusted and utilized to generate transmit signals by the one or more transmitters based on the received modulation control information. One or more demodulation frequencies may be adjusted and utilized to generate intermediate frequency signals by the one or more receivers based on the received demodulation control information. The modulation control information and the demodulation control information may be received via a control point. The modulation control information and demodulation control information may be received on a link operating in a frequency band different from said transmit frequencies and said receive frequencies.
