    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for sensitivity control in a near-field communication, NFC, device operating in a receiving mode. The method comprises calculating a threshold value, using a threshold value calculating unit, as a function of a determined current received signal strength indicator, RSSI, value, optionally a determined current gain control, GC, value, and further optionally a so-called margin value that is a product-specific parameter, and applying the calculated threshold value as a threshold parameter to a threshold comparison unit, which is configured to receive, as input. a first time-derivative signal derived from a combined output signal that is determined as a function of a digital I-channel signal output and a digital Q-channel signal output of an I&Q demodulating block, to compare the first time-derivative signal with the applied threshold parameter, and to provide a binary output that is indicative of whether the input first time-derivative signal is greater than the applied threshold parameter or not.

    Abstract: A device may include a data storage device storing a first look-up table that contains a plurality of distance mappings that each associate a value of a first signal feature with a distance value. An NFC reader is configured to communicate with an NFC tag includes: an antenna, a transmitter that is configured to use the antenna to transmit a radio frequency transmitted field, a receiver configured to receive from the antenna one or more response signals in response to the radio frequency transmitted field transmitted by the transmitter, and a signal processor configured to: process the one or more response signals to determine a first value of the first signal feature, access the first look-up table to determine a first distance mapping that associates the value of the first signal feature with a first distance, and generate an output signal based upon the first distance.

    Abstract: Embodiments are provided for a method of operating a receiver system, the receiver system comprising one or more channels, the method comprising: monitoring a residual DC (direct current) offset in a present channel by sampling an output of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) of the present channel; adjusting a DCO (direct current offset) correction signal that corresponds to the residual DC offset in response to an absolute value of the residual DC offset exceeding a programmable DCO threshold; and subtracting the DCO correction signal from an analog signal provided to the ADC to reduce the residual DC offset below the programmable DCO threshold.
