Abstract: Disclosed is a method for forming a sensory textile. The method includes: providing a conductive polymer, a dopant and a solvent; mixing the conductive polymer, dopant and solvent to form a mixture having a predetermined ratio of the conductive polymer and the dopant, and a predetermined concentration of the conductive polymer; contacting a fabric with the mixture to coat the fabric with the conductive polymer and dopant; and drying the coated fabric. Also disclosed is a sensory textile device that includes such a sensory textile, a conductive backing layer and a spacer layer disposed between the sensory textile and conductive backing layer.

Abstract: A photonic device is described in an embodiment. The photonic device comprising: a 2D material layer formed on a substrate; a source electrode and a drain electrode formed on the 2D material layer; and a plurality of nanoantennas formed on the 2D material layer between the source electrode and the drain electrode. Each of the plurality of nanoantennas having dimensions associated with a resonant wavelength of the photonic device and being configured to act as a non-centrosymmetric centre for providing anisotropy to generate a photocurrent in response to a polarized light incident on the photonic device, and the polarized light having a light wavelength near the resonant wavelength. The plurality of nanoantennas comprises one or more metal layers. The source electrode and the drain electrode are adapted to measure a photovoltage formed by the generated photocurrent, and a reduction in a magnitude of the photovoltage measured is used to detect a presence of an analyte having an absorption peak near the resonant wavelength of the photonic device. A photonic system comprising the photonic device and a method of spectroscopic sensing using the photonic system are also described.

Abstract: A system to provide a human-machine interface to enable a user in a real space to act/sense in a virtual space. The plurality of feedback units being multimodal, including: a vibrator disposed on the ring, the vibrator being disposed on the outer surface of the ring; and a heater disposed on the inner surface of the ring. The system includes a controller configured to drive the plurality of sensors and the plurality of feedback devices to enable concurrent multimodal sensing and multimodal feedback.

Abstract: Infrared spectrometer and method of performing infrared spectrometry. In one embodiment, the method comprises the steps of providing a first single pixel detector sensitive to infrared light in a first spectral range; providing an entrance slit for receiving an infrared light signal; disposing a moveable encoding mask between the entrance slit and the first single pixel detector for encoding based multiplexing, the moveable encoding mask comprising at least three adjacent coding sections along an encoding moving direction thereof, each coding section comprising the same coding pattern in a cyclic manner such that a last encoding step of one encoding section is the same as a first encoding step in a next encoding section step; disposing a dispersion and imaging optics between the entrance slit and the moveable encoding mask for dispersing the infrared signal and for imaging the dispersed infrared signal onto the moveable encoding mask; disposing a collection optics between the moveable encoding mask and the first single pixel detector for collecting an encoding based multiplexed version of the infrared signal onto the first single pixel photodetector; selectively allowing only one of at least first and second bands within the first spectral range to be imaged onto respective ones of the coding sections excluding a first coding section along the encoding moving direction of the moveable encoding mask, in a starting position of the moveable encoding mask; and moving the moveable encoding mask in the encoding moving direction for the encoding based multiplexing.

Abstract: Disclosed is a sensory flooring system. The flooring system comprises a plurality of flooring segments and, for each flooring segment, one or more electrode portions. Abstract: Disclosed herein are triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). Such TENGs comprise at least one tribolectric (TE) layer comprising two surfaces relative movement between which generates a TE charge, and a circuit. The circuit comprises a switch, a sensor, and a load. The switch has an open condition in which the TE charge accumulates (the accumulated TE charge), and a closed condition in which the accumulated TE charge discharges between the two surfaces across the load, the sensor determining a time constant (τ) of discharge of the accumulated TE charge across the load.
