Abstract:
Emergency lubrication systems and methods for an engine are provided. One system includes a primary lubrication system including a de-aeration oil tank configured to store de-aerated oil until the oil is de-aerated, a first oil supply line configured to provide de-aerated oil to the engine, and a first valve configured to control the flow of oil through the primary lubrication system. The system further includes a secondary lubrication system including a second valve coupled to the de-aeration oil tank and configured to control the flow of oil through the secondary lubrication system, and a second oil supply line coupled to the engine and to the de-aeration oil tank via the second valve. One method includes the steps of detecting a predetermined event in the engine, preventing the aerated oil from entering the primary lubrication system, and using the aerated oil in the secondary lubrication system to lubricate the engine.
Abstract:
A system and method for selectively updating remote devices is described herein. A method incorporating at least some of the present teachings may include, for example, receiving a communication from a client application executing on a remote device. The communication may indicate a condition of a game character being played in a massively multi-party online game. The method may also include developing a filtered manifest that includes a list of files needed by the client application and associated with the condition. A portion of the collection may be identified for communication to the client application, and communication of the portion may be initiated.
Abstract:
Methods and systems control an irrigation system that includes an irrigation controller, a valve actuator, and at least one irrigation sensor connected by a communication circuit. A sensor charging pulse having a temporal duration less than a solenoid actuation time threshold for a solenoid is provided over the communication circuit. The sensor charging pulse charges a charge storage device in at least one irrigation sensor. A series of addressing pulses is also generated over the communication circuit, which indicate a device identifier of at least one irrigation sensor. The series of addressing pulses activate at least one irrigation sensor having the device identifier indicated by the series of addressing pulses such that the activated irrigation sensor provides a sensor signal indicative of an irrigation condition to the irrigation controller via the communication network.
Abstract:
A cleat cover for temporary coverage an athletic shoe sole comprising: a plurality of receptors along a top surface, where the receptors provide openings to receive cleats protruding from the athletic shoe; a sole, where the sole includes a flat smooth surface; at least two straps, where said at least two straps secure the cleat cover to the athletic shoe sole; and a heel strap, where heel strap provides an additional means to secure the cover once in place. The plurality of receptors may include a first group of receptors for receiving any front cleats from the athletic shoe and a second group of receptors for receiving any heel cleats from the athletic shoe. The plurality of receptors may be configured in accordance with the cleats of the athletic shoe and may be made of rubber foam.
Abstract:
A video-on-demand system transfers a control screen signal to a second communication system and receives a viewer control signal from the second communication system. The video-on-demand system transfers video signals to either a first communication system or the second communication system based on the viewer control signal. The second communication system uses less bandwidth to transfer the video signals than the first communications system. The control screen could be a web page that includes: 1) a video display menu with a selection of displays and bandwidths to display the video signals, 2) a video content menu with a video preview selection, and/or 3) a video display control menu comprising play, pause, rewind, fast forward, and stop. The video-on-demand system implements the control screen menu selections.
Abstract:
The invention comprises devices and methods for providing operational power to a solar-powered irrigation control system. In one aspect, a method includes producing electrical energy from light, storing the electrical energy in a capacitive module, and operating an irrigation controller using the stored electrical energy independent of another power source. In another aspect, a device includes a control system comprising a computer having a programmed irrigation schedule which operates at least one irrigation device, a photovoltaic power module, and a capacitive module connected to said photovoltaic power module to store the electrical energy provided by the photovoltaic power module, where the capacitive module provides power for the control system to operate the at least one irrigation device independent of another power source.
Abstract:
A lubrication system is provided for delivering a lubricant to a plurality of nozzles. The lubrication system includes a reservoir for the lubricant; a pump fluidly coupled to the reservoir and configured to remove a flow of the lubricant from the reservoir; a lubrication sensor positioned between the pump and the plurality of nozzles and configured to detect a blockage in the plurality of nozzles and to generate a blockage signal when the blockage is detected; and an indicator coupled to the lubrication sensor and configured to generate a warning based on the blockage signal from the lubrication sensor

Abstract:
A system and method of finding related documents based on activity specific meta data and users' interest profiles is described. The method includes searching an information source based upon a user's interest profile; a search query; and a contextual setting. Additionally, the method includes calculating a priority value for each item of the search result, sorting the items of the search result according to the priority value, and displaying the sorted search result to the user.
