Abstract:
A method for monitoring paging messages in a mobile station with a subscriber identity card camping on a cell is provided. A paging message from the cell is monitored at a set of M predetermined time intervals. A first paging message with a first subscriber identity information being successively broadcasted in the paging channel at a Nth predetermined time interval and a (N+i)th predetermined time interval of the set of M predetermined time intervals is determined. A second paging message with a second subscriber identity information being successively broadcasted in the paging channel at the Nth predetermined time interval and a (N+j)th predetermined time interval of the set of M predetermined time intervals is determined, wherein j>i. The paging channel is monitored at a (N+i)th predetermined time interval and a (N+j)th predetermined time interval of following predetermined time intervals subsequent to the M predetermined time intervals.
Abstract:
A communications apparatus and method for camping on a serving cell. The apparatus includes a radio frequency (RF) signal processing device, processing a plurality of RF signals to generate a plurality of baseband signals, a baseband signal processing device, processing the baseband signals, and a processor, measuring a signal quality or power of the serving cell and determining whether a first predetermined threshold value related to cell reselection of the serving cell is greater than a second predetermined threshold value related to cell reselection of a predetermined neighbor cell. When the first predetermined threshold value is greater than the second predetermined threshold value, the processor further determines whether the signal quality or power of the serving cell is greater than the second predetermined threshold value. Also, at times, the processor further determines whether to perform cell measurement on the predetermined neighbor cell.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus is provided. A processor camps on a first cell, which is associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) and belongs to a first wireless network, via a radio transceiver module, and further camps on a second cell, which is associated with a second RAT and belongs to a second wireless network, via the radio transceiver module. The processor constructs a first packet switch connection with the first wireless network via the first cell to perform data transfer in the first wireless network, measures a first data transfer throughput of the first wireless network when performing the data transfer via the cell, and determines to perform the data transfer in the second wireless network via the second cell when a theoretical data transfer throughput corresponding to the second RAT is higher than the first data transfer throughput.
Abstract:
A method for performing a cell reselection process in a wireless communications system is provided. The method is used in a communications apparatus camping on a serving cell. The method includes: receiving priority information about a priority order of frequencies of candidate cells from a network operator; performing a cell reselection evaluation process to select a target cell from the serving cell and the candidate cells; and performing a cell reselection process from the serving cell to the target cell directly without passing through any intervening cell.
Abstract:
A communications apparatus includes a radio frequency signal processing device, a baseband signal processing device, a memory device and a processor. The RF signal processing device processes RF signals to generate baseband signals. The baseband signal processing device processes the baseband signals. The processor determines whether a first predetermined threshold value related to cell reselection is greater than a second predetermined threshold value related to cell measurement, and performs cell measurement on a predetermined neighbor cell when the first predetermined threshold value is greater than the second predetermined threshold value.

Abstract:
A paging channel is monitored at a special position of every predetermined time interval subsequent to the last monitored time. It is detected whether a same first identity information is repeatedly broadcasted in the paging channel at special positions of different predetermined time interval. A total number of periodically repeated messages containing the same first identity information is determined. A new time interval is determined by multiplying a time period between two successive repeated paging messages with the total number of periodically repeated paging messages, wherein the new time interval has a monitoring interval (having a plurality of predetermined time intervals) equaling to the length of the time period and a sleep interval. The paging channel is monitored at special positions of the plurality of predetermined time intervals in every new time interval subsequent to the last monitored time so as to receive subsequent paging messages from the cell.
