    Abstract: A toner including a mother toner comprising a binder resin and a calixarene having a halogen group, and a charge controlling agent having a halogen group that is present on a surface of the mother toner. The ratio of halogen ion to carbon ion on a surface of the toner is from 0.01 to 0.5, when determined by TOF-SIMS. The toner can be prepared by preparing a first liquid by dissolving or dispersing toner components including a calixarene having a halogen group and a binder resin and/or a precursor of the binder resin in an organic solvent; preparing a second liquid by emulsifying or dispersing the first liquid in an aqueous medium; removing the organic solvent from the second liquid; preparing a third liquid by washing the second liquid from which the organic solvent is removed; and adding a charge controlling agent having a halogen group to the third liquid.

    Abstract: A toner including a core particle, an inner shell layer covering the core, and an outer shell layer covering the inner shell layer is provided. The core particle includes a resin P. The inner shell layer includes fine particles of a resin A. The outer shell layer includes fine particles of a resin B.     Abstract: A toner produced by a method including dissolving or dispersing toner components comprising a colorant and at least one of a binder resin and a precursor thereof in an organic solvent to prepare a toner components liquid, dispersing the toner components liquid in an aqueous medium including a surfactant, a particulate resin A having the same polarity as the surfactant and a volume average particle diameter of from 5 to 50 nm, and a particulate resin B having a volume average particle diameter of from 10 to 500 nm to form liquid droplets, and removing the organic solvent from the liquid droplets. The particulate resin B is incompatible with the binder resin and swells in the organic solvent.
