Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying sealing integrity in a portable electronic device. One method includes raising, with an electronic processor, an internal temperature of the portable electronic device. The method includes, when the internal temperature exceeds a threshold, determining whether a vent port of the portable electronic device is closed. The method includes, when the vent port is closed, receiving, from a pressure sensor, a first internal pressure for the portable electronic device. The method includes, after a cool down period has elapsed, receiving, from the pressure sensor, a second internal pressure for the portable electronic device. The method includes determining, based on the first and second internal pressures, a pressure drop rate. The method includes determining a sealing integrity indication based on the pressure drop rate. The method includes providing a test result output based on the sealing integrity indication.

Abstract: An assembly and method provides improved electromagnetic interference shielding, particularly where the assembly includes a shield with a shield opening. The shield opening may be provided to permit the escape of thermal energy from an electronic component on a substrate under the shield or to receive at least a part of a thermal pad, electronic component, or conductive chassis. The assembly includes a first conductive gasket disposed around the shield opening, and a second conductive gasket disposed radially outward from the first conductive gasket. The first conductive gasket and the second conductive gasket have one or more gasket characteristics including a respective first characteristic and second characteristic that are of the same type but have different values. The first characteristic and the second characteristic may be one or more of different attenuation frequency ranges, compression amounts, compressive forces, and dimensions.

Abstract: A device and method controlling a speaker to emit a sound to protect a microphone is provided. An example device: determines, using a motion detector, when a drop is occurring. The example device, in response to determining that a drop is occurring: controls a speaker of the example device to emit a sound according to one or more predetermined drop parameters, the sound to apply an acoustic pressure at a membrane of the MEMS microphone of the example device to reduce a deflection thereof that results due to one or more of the drop and an impact which ends the drop.

Abstract: A vehicle adapter configured to be mounted to a vehicle. The vehicle adapter includes a body sized and shaped to receive and hold a portable communications device, the body including a surface configured to press against the portable communications device. The vehicle adapter further includes a cooling system coupled to the body, the cooling system including a conduit configured to deliver a coolant to an internal channel of the portable communications device. The conduit defines a projection sized and shaped to press against and open a valve on the portable communications device when the portable communications device is received into the vehicle adapter.
