Abstract: One example radio frequency (RF) site controller is configured to communicate with a first communication device over a control channel to establish a traffic channel over which the first communication device is configured to communicate with a second communication device. The RF site controller may control the control channel to switch between operating in (i) a keyed state (in other words a full-power state) for a first dynamic period of time and (ii) a de-keyed state (in other words, a lower-powered state) for a second dynamic period of time. At least one of the first dynamic period of time and the second dynamic period of time may be based on a characteristic of at least one of a group consisting of a coverage area being serviced by the RF site controller and one or more communication devices being serviced by the RF site controller.

Abstract: A device, method and system for scanning communication systems of different types is provided. A mobile device comprises: first and second transceivers to communicate first and second communication systems of different types; a memory storing first and second scan lists for scanning first and second channels on the first and second communication systems; and a controller configured to: communicate, using the first transceiver, an indication of the first and second scan lists to a gateway device configured as a proxy for the mobile device to communicate with the first communication systems; receive, using the first transceiver, from the gateway device, a reply indicating that the gateway device is capable of scanning the first communication systems using the first scan list, but is not capable of scanning the second communication systems; and control the second transceiver to scan the one or more second communication systems using the second scan list.

Abstract: Some example communication systems include a fixed network equipment (FNE) operable to receive a talk group call from a first radio. The FNE is operable to transmit the talk group call to a second radio. The FNE is operable to receive a request for a high priority call. The communication system includes a gateway operable to transmit an interrupt signaling message through a broadband channel to the first radio. The interrupt signaling message includes instructions to de-key from the talk group call. Some example communication systems include a first radio operable to communicate with a second radio in a talk group call. The communication system includes a gateway operable to receive a request for a high priority call. The gateway is operable to transmit an interrupt signaling message through a broadband channel to the first radio. The interrupt signaling message includes instructions to make a high priority call decision.

Abstract: A communication system and method are provided to conduct waterway searches for the detection and identification of objects and the generation of law enforcement agency alerts and pre-approved external agency notifications. A water body surveillance apparatus, under control of a law enforcement agency, surveys above and below a water surface to detect objects and collect data pertaining to the detected objects. The communication system identifies the detected object and generates an alert to the law enforcement agency identifying the object. A notification is sent to pre-approved external agencies based on object type. The pre-approved external agencies may include other law enforcement agencies different from the law enforcement agency and non-law enforcement agencies, such as pre-approved insurance agencies, and vehicle repossession companies, environmental agencies.

Abstract: A device, system and method for dynamically adjusting a queue structure and message sequencing is provided. A device receives, from one or more edge devices receiving outbound signaling messages on one or more control channels, rankings of previously transmitted outbound signaling messages. The device adjusts (and/or causes adjusting of) one or more of a queue structure and a message sequence of the outbound signaling messages based on the rankings. The device transmits (and/or causes transmission), to the one or more edge devices, the outbound signaling messages according to one or more of the queue structure and the message sequence, as adjusted.
