Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for synchronizing network traffic to a mobile device from each of multiple servers, wherein each such server can independently determine when to send traffic to the mobile device. More particularly, each of the multiple servers receives, from the mobile device, a value that uniquely identifies the mobile device from among multiple mobile devices. The server determines a time slot value based on the received value and assigns a time slot to the mobile device based on the determined time slot value. The server then transmits data to the mobile device in the assigned time slot. By each of the multiple servers determining the time slot value, and the assigned time slot, based on a same value received from the mobile device, the multiple servers are able to synchronize their transmissions to the mobile device without need of a common, intermediary, push notification service.

Abstract: A mobile radio (MR) transmits short data during an active time division multiple access (TDMA) call in a wireless communication system. The mobile radio receives first communication media (CM) of the active call in a first slot of a first outbound TDMA logical channel (FLC) of an outbound traffic frequency having a slotting ratio n>=2. The MR transmits short data during at least a portion of a second slot of the FLC, pending short data on an inbound logical data channel of an inbound traffic frequency. The MR then receives second CM of the active call in a third slot of the FLC, and receives missed CM of the active call without specifically identifying the missed CM in any request for re-transmission of missed CM, in a first slot of a second outbound TDMA logical channel of the outbound traffic frequency.

Abstract: Methods and systems for authenticating a user. One system includes a camera and an authentication computer. The authentication computer is configured to receive an image of a user captured by the camera, determine, based on the image, a constraint of the user impacting an availability of a part of the user's body for use in authenticating the user, and determine, based on the constraint of the user, an action to be performed by the user. The authentication computer is also configured to transmit data to a user device worn by the user, the data usable by the user device to output instructions to the user to perform the action, and, in response to detecting the action performed by the user, authenticating the user to use a resource.
