An embodiment takes the form of a process that includes transmitting video frames to a receiving device during a first transmission period of one or more time slots of a half-duplex air interface, and receiving feedback messaging from the receiving device during a feedback period of one or more time slots of the half-duplex air interface. The process further includes suspending, after the first transmission period, transmission of video frames for a suspension period of one or more time slots of the half-duplex air interface, and after the feedback period and after the suspension period, transmitting one or more recovery frames to the receiving device during a recovery period of one or more time slots of the half-duplex air interface. The one or more recovery frames collectively include inter-coded macroblock data and/or intra-coded macroblock data.
Abstract:
A method for assigning slot reservations to subscriber radios in a TDMA communications system, where data is arranged into a series of superframes, includes an inbound signaling protocol having a plurality of inbound transmission slots. An outbound signaling protocol includes an inbound reservation scheduling slot, which includes a plurality of subscriber access code fields. Each subscriber access code field corresponds to at least one of the inbound transmission slots. Each subscriber access code field may store a subscriber access code associated with a subscriber radio. The inbound reservation scheduling message includes a subscriber access code in at least one of the subscriber access code fields. As such, the subscriber radio associated with the subscriber access code may transmit data during the inbound transmission slot corresponding to the subscriber access code in which the subscriber access code field is stored.
Abstract:
Systems, devices, and methods of managing short addresses in a wireless communication system include receiving reservation requests on a random access channel from subscriber units at a radio frequency (RF) site such that the reservation requests includes a minimum number of requested time slots for data transmission between a subscriber unit and the RF site, and a subscriber long address. Further, for each of the reservation requests, the RF site selects a subscriber short address for the respective subscriber unit as well as transmitting the selected subscriber short address to the respective subscriber unit on a RF site channel. In addition, the RF site determines a short address transmission schedule for the subscriber units as well as transmitting a schedule message to the subscriber units on a schedule channel such that the schedule provides slot assignments for data transmissions by subscriber units according to their assigned short addresses.
