摘要: Technologies are disclosed for temporarily hiding user interface (“UI”) elements, such as application windows or tabs. A request can be received to hide a UI element for a specified period of time. When such a request is received, the UI element is hidden and an identifier corresponding to the UI element is moved from a first area of a taskbar to a second area of the taskbar. The application presenting the UI element can be configured for reduced consumption of computing resources while the UI element is hidden. Additionally, notifications associated with the UI element can be disabled while the UI element is hidden. When the specified period of time to hide the UI element has elapsed, the UI element is once again displayed. Additionally, the identifier corresponding to the UI element is moved from the second area of the taskbar back to the first area of the taskbar.

摘要: The techniques disclosed herein implement a centralized lighting module configured to control a diverse set of lighting-enabled peripheral devices. The set of lighting-enabled peripheral devices is diverse with respect to a type and a manufacturer. The lighting module is referred to as a centralized lighting module because the lighting module is part of an operating system of a computing device. Consequently, a user of the computing device no longer has to download and learn to use multiple different lighting applications if the user wants to create a diverse lighting ecosystem in which lighting-enabled peripheral devices from different manufacturers are connected to the computing device. Similarly, a developer of a computing application no longer has to engage and interact with multiple application programming interfaces (APIs) and software development kits (SDKs) if the developer wants users of their computing application to be able to create a diverse lighting ecosystem.

摘要: Disclosed is an operating system (OS) discovery mode that identifies and provides access to OS and/or third-party provided features within an applicable region of a desktop. In some configurations, once the discovery mode is activated, the content displayed by the applicable region is analyzed to identify content usable by OS and/or third-party provided features. Visual cues are rendered in the applicable region near the identified content, highlighting the availability of the OS and/or third-party provided features. Users may interact with the visual cues to manipulate the underlying content or to invoke the OS and/or third-party provided features. OS and/or third-party provided features may modify content displayed by an application, launch an inline micro-experience, crop or export images, etc. While in the discovery mode, visual cues are highlighted as a discovery mouse cursor moves around the desktop. In some configurations the discovery mode is triggered automatically, causing an OS service to automatically identify and display a set of entity visual cues across the applicable region.

摘要: Semantic zoom techniques are described. In one or more implementations, techniques are described that may be utilized by a user to navigate to content of interest. These techniques may also include a variety of different features, such as to support semantic swaps and zooming “in” and “out.” These techniques may also include a variety of different input features, such as to support gestures, cursor-control device, and keyboard inputs. A variety of other features are also supported as further described in the detailed description and figures.

摘要: A digital inking device can automatically adapt its interaction modality to provide contextually relevant status information and contextually relevant user interface control elements based on a user's activity. An interaction model of a digital inking device can automatically adapt the display of particular control user interface control elements and particular status indicators based on one or more factors. For example, a digital inking device can select an interaction model from a number of interaction models based on a way a digital inking device is held by a user, a fingerprint of a user, an angle and/or distance of a digital inking device with respect to a paired computer, a particular grip a user has on a digital inking device, an amount of pressure that is used to hold a digital inking device, a contact pressure between a digital inking device and a paired computer, and/or one more gestures performed by a user.

摘要: A method for detecting digital ink described herein can include detecting an environmental characteristic of a system. The method can also include modifying a user interface mode based on the environmental characteristic, the user interface mode to modify an input panel of a first display screen of a user interface for detecting the digital ink. Furthermore, the method can also include storing the digital ink provided via the user interface and displaying the stored digital ink in a second display screen of the user interface.

摘要: A computing device is described herein for capturing handwritten marks. It includes a main computing unit and a detachable writing input device joined by a connecting mechanism. The main computing unit includes a main display device, while the writing input device hosts a keyboard and a writing surface. The writing surface, in turn, includes a digitizer for capturing ink data in response to a user drawing on the writing surface, and writing display device for displaying ink strokes associated with the ink data that has been captured. A transfer control component transfers the ink data captured by the writing input device to the main computing unit upon a triggering event, such as the reconnection of the writing input device to the main computing unit. The computing device also includes a clustering component for classifying note pages received from the writing input device into one or more categories of notes.

摘要: A system for executing context based operations can include a processor and a memory device comprising a plurality of instructions that, in response to an execution by the processor, cause the processor to detect context information corresponding to input wherein the context information comprises device information, a subject of the input, device usage information, or a combination thereof. The processor can also store a link between the context information and the input. Additionally, the processor can detect an operation corresponding to the context information and the input and execute the operation based on the context information and the input.
