    摘要： A system is provided for improving the performance of an access network for coupling user devices to an application server. The system includes a user device coupled to an intermediate server via the access network. The user device has a processor adapted to encode data using a network performance enhancing coding (NPEC), and to transmit the encoded data via the access network to the intermediate server. The intermediate server is adapted to receive the encoded data and has a processor adapted to decode the encoded data using the NPEC, and to transmit the decoded data to the application server.

    摘要： A system for managing email attachments receives and opens, on a mobile device, a document attached to an email; converts the opened document to a lower-resolution document; stores the lower-resolution document; and synchronizes the stored lower-resolution document with the mobile device. The system can also generate and store a corresponding thumbnail of the lower-resolution document. The original of the opened document may be stored in a remote storage device, optionally encrypting the low-resolution document before storing. The original of the opened document may also be broken into a plurality of pieces which are stored in different remote storage devices.
