Abstract: The described technology generally relates to a scalable high efficiency video coding (SHVC)-based ultra-high definition (UHD) image data transmission and reception system. The SHVC-based UHD image data transmission and reception system includes an image data collector configured to collect various kinds of image data and additional data of the image data. The system also includes an image data coder configured to code the image data and the additional data by using an HEVC-based scalable video coding scheme, and an image data transmitter configured to transmit at least one of a portion of the coded image data and the coded additional data to a terminal via a communication network.
