    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a control unit and first and second image scanning devices. The first and second image scanning devices scan the same surface of the same sheet with an image formed thereon on a sheet-conveying pathway. The image forming apparatus adjusts an image forming condition based on information acquired through the scan by the first and second image scanning devices. The first image scanning device scans only a part of an area in the main scanning direction. The second image scanning device scans an area across the image forming width in the main scanning direction. The control unit detects an anomalous value based on the information acquired through the scan by the second image scanning device, and prompts cleaning of the first and second image scanning devices in response to detection of the anomalous value.

    Abstract: A calibration apparatus includes a calibration section and a conversion section. The calibration section performs calibration with first and second image reading apparatuses which read in-line a color patch formed on paper by an image forming apparatus. The first image reading apparatus includes a first device which reads the color patch and outputs the reading result as a first signal. The second image reading apparatus includes a second device which reads the color patch and outputs the reading result as a second signal having a format different from a format of the first signal. The conversion section converts the first signal into an after-conversion first signal having the format of the second signal. The calibration section performs the calibration in such a way that an output value of the second signal is adjusted to an output value of the after-conversion first signal.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus including an image forming unit; a color conversion unit; a storage unit which stores a mixed-color pattern including a gradation of tones of a mixed color and a reference value of each of the tones; and a control unit which forms an image of the mixed-color pattern on the sheet with the image forming unit, compares color values representing color shades for each of the tones between an observed value of the image of the mixed-color pattern formed on the sheet and the reference value of the mixed-color pattern stored in the storage unit, and determines that the multi-dimensional LUT needs to be updated and updates the multi-dimensional LUT if a difference of the color values is determined to be large on the basis of a threshold value.

    Abstract: An alignment sheet for alignment of an image forming position of a sheet includes a first side and a second side. The first side has a reference image which is formed in a periphery of the first side and which is used for measuring a position of an image on the first side. The second side has a background image with a predetermined area which is formed at a location where the background image does not overlap the reference image. The reference image and the background image are read at the same time by an image reading section while an area with the reference image is folded such that the background image appears as a background.
