A Jacquard weaving machine includes a weaving apparatus and a Jacquard apparatus, which are both connected to one another for the transmission of torque via a mechanical transmission device and are driven by a common motor. An additional drive device is provided which acts at least on the Jacquard apparatus. An angle sensor is provided for the measurement of an angle of rotation and/or a torque sensor is provided for the measurement of the torque present between the weaving machine and the Jacquard apparatus. The sensors are connected to a control device that controls the drive device in such a manner that peak values in the torque and/or fluctuations in the speed of rotation are reduced.

A loom with two or more sectional warp beam, each associated with a measuring device for detecting the length of at least one of the warp threads, which runs off the sectional beam in question during a given advance of warp thread. Each measuring device has a measuring roller which is urged against a number of warp threads, e.g., against the circumference of the wound sectional warp beam and which is driven by them during the advance of warp thread, so that it is able to transmit a corresponding control signal to a control equipment. The control equipment regulates the r.p.m. of the sectional warp beams in dependence upon these control signals in the sense of keeping constant the predetermined length of any given warp thread advance. The invention is particularly useful for weaving off sectional warp beams having different winding diameters for assuring a homogeneous appearance of the weave across its entire width.

This sensor (7, 8) is connected to a control system (9) which actuates the auxiliary drive (6) in such a manner that the torque and/or fluctuations in the speed of rotation present between the weaving machine (1) and the dobby (2) are reduced.

Weft yarn is inserted into the weaving rotor of a series shed weaving machine. Four weft yarns (7; 71, 72, 73, 74) are conveyed into the weft yarn distribution apparatus (9) from four supply units (2a-2d) and four metering apparatuses (1a-1d). The weft yarn distribution apparatus (9) distributes the weft yarns (71-74) delivered to it to the sheds of the weaving rotor (100) which are currently open, with the weft yarns being inserted through stationary fluid nozzles (91, 92, 93, 94) into the rotating weaving rotor (100). During normal operation of the series shed weaving machine, the weft yarn (71-74) is continuously pulled from the weft yarn supply (2a-2d) by the metering apparatuses (1a-1d) and conveyed to the weft yarn distribution apparatus (9) which conducts the weft yarn (71-74) into an opened shed (103a-103d). The speed of conveyance of the weft yarn (71-74) during insertion into the shed (103a-103d) is thus determined by the metering apparatus (1a-1d).
