Abstract: The present invention relates to processes for deriving components or products from tobacco biomass. In particular the invention relates to a process for deriving two or more components or products from a single tobacco biomass stock, wherein during the process, at least one component or product, for example nicotine, is extracted from a liquid phase and at least one component or product, for example an organic molecule such as an alcohol, is produced from a solid phase. The invention also relates to products, particularly plastics, synthesised from the organic molecules derived from the biomass stock.
