摘要: With regard to a handheld type four-cycle engine including, in a side wall of a cylinder block, an intake valve, an exhaust valve and a valve operation mechanism operable in association with a crankshaft so as to open and close the above-mentioned valves and, an oil tank is formed in one side wall of the cylinder block, and the oil tank houses the valve operation mechanism and oil mist generation means for generating an oil mist from stored oil. It is thus possible to reliably lubricate the valve operation mechanism regardless of the operational position of the engine while allowing the size and weight of the engine main body to be reduced.

摘要: In a handheld type OHV engine, an oil tank is provided so as to be connected to one side wall running the length of a crankcase and a cylinder block, the oil tank houses oil mist generation means to and a rotational movement section of a valve operation mechanism, and the oil mist generated in the oil tank is supplied from a crank chamber to a valve operation chamber of a cylinder head housing a reciprocating movement section of the valve operation mechanism, and is returned to the oil tank by utilizing the pressure pulsations of the crank chamber and a one-way valve. It is thus possible to lubricate the inside of the crank chamber and the valve operation mechanism reliably regardless of the operational position of the handheld type OHV engine while reducing the overall height of the engine.

摘要: In an oil mist generation system, an oil slinger is disposed in an oil tank and is rotated by a crankshaft, the oil slinger scattering oil store in the oil tank by the rotation of the oil slinger so as to generate an oil mist. The oil mist generation system includes a drive gear provided on the crankshaft, and at least three oil slingers supported on three support shafts and simultaneously driven by the drive gear, the three support shafts being arranged around the drive gear. Therefore, besides a circular shape, various shapes can be imparted to the peripheral wall of the oil tank.

摘要: A seal structure in an engine, including a seal member interposed between a cylinder head having a slanting face portion at least at an intermediate portion of its upper end face to which a valve-operating cam chamber opens, and a head cover coupled to the upper end face of the cylinder head by a bolt to close the valve-operating cam chamber. The head cover has a fit wall portion formed thereon and fitted to an inner peripheral surface of the valve-operating cam chamber, and the seal member is mounted in a seal groove provided in an outer peripheral surface of the fit wall portion to come into close contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder head. Thus, an interference can be provided equally at various portions of the seal member irrespective of the number of bolts used, and the seal member can always exhibit a good seal function.

摘要: In a valve-operating mechanism in a 4-cycle engine, a timing transmitting device is disposed on one side of an engine body. A cam device includes a cam coupled to a driven pulley of the timing transmitting device on one side of a cylinder head, intake and exhaust rocker shafts rotatably carried in the cylinder head, intake and exhaust cam followers secured to one ends of the rocker shafts with their tip ends in sliding contact with the cam, and intake and exhaust rocker arms secured to the other ends of the intake and exhaust rocker shafts with their tip ends abutting against the intake and exhaust valves. Thus, the cam of the cam device can be disposed on one side of the cylinder head to effectively reduce the entire height of the engine.

摘要: In a handheld type four-cycle engine, the lubricating system includes an oil tank placed outside an engine main body, a through hole providing communication between the oil tank and a crank chamber, an oil feed pipe placed outside the engine main body and providing communication between the crank chamber and a valve operation chamber of a cylinder head, an oil return pipe placed outside the engine main body and providing communication between the valve operation chamber and the oil tank, and a one-way valve for transferring oil from the crank chamber to the valve operation chamber side via the oil feed pipe. The side walls of the engine main body can thus be made thinner and the weight of the engine main body can therefore be reduced regardless of the presence of the oil feed pipe and the oil return pipe.

摘要: In a working engine including a bearing mounted on an outer wall of a crankcase for carrying a crankshaft, an oil seal mounted on the outer wall of a crankcase and disposed outside and adjacent the bearing, and a cooling fan which is attached to an outer end of the crankshaft adjacent the oil seal with its blades turned toward the crankcase and which has blades protruding toward the crankcase, a cylindrical protective tube is formed on an outer sidewall of the crankcase to cover ends of bosses of the cooling fan, and a foreign matter-beating piece is formed on the cooling fan 16 in proximity to an outer peripheral surface of the protective tube. Thus, even if a long foreign matter drawn in by the cooling fan such as a weed and the like has been entangled around the crankshaft, it can be beaten and loosened, or cut by the foreign matter-beating piece rotated along with the cooling fan. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the entanglement around the foreign matter around the crankshaft, thereby avoiding damage to the oil seal as a result of the entanglement.
