A fixing device includes a fixing belt, a pressuring roller pressured to the fixing belt, a heat source heating the fixing belt, a pressing member pressing the fixing belt toward the pressuring roller's side, and a sliding contact sheet interposed between the fixing belt and the pressing member to hold lubricant. The sliding contact sheet includes a sliding contact portion arranged at the center in a sheet conveying direction to come into contact with the fixing belt, a first fixed portion arranged at an upstream side in the conveying direction and wound around the pressing member at the heat source's side, and a second fixed portion arranged at a downstream side in the conveying direction and wound around the pressing member at the heat source's side from the first fixed portion. The sliding contact sheet is configured so that the second fixed portion becomes smaller than the first fixed portion.

A fixing device includes a heating body, a pressuring body, a temperature detecting part, a first frame supporting the heating body, a second frame supporting the pressuring body and a moving mechanism. The temperature detecting part has a detecting element detecting an infrared ray radiated from the heating body and detects temperature of the heating body by the detecting element. The first frame includes a heat interrupting member covering the heating body between the heating body and the temperature detecting part. The moving mechanism moves the first frame in an approaching direction or a separating direction from the second frame to establish the heating body and the pressuring body in a pressurization state or a depressurization state. The heat interrupting member includes an aperture elongated in a movement direction of the first frame to pass the infrared ray radiated from the heating body to the detecting element through the aperture.

Provided is a fixing device including a pair of end deformation restraint members. A restraint body 35 of the end deformation restraint member has an insertion part 38 which is inserted into both end portions of a fixing belt, and restrains deformation of belt end portions by holding both end portions of the fixing belt, which slides on an outer peripheral surface of the insertion part 38, from inside in the insertion part 38. The insertion part 38 is continued in a belt rotation direction with no gap.

The controller judges that the fixing belt is rotating in a case where the temperature detected by the temperature sensor alternately increases and decreases in a state that the heat source is heating the fixing belt, and judges that the fixing belt is not rotating in a case where the temperature detected by the temperature sensor does not alternately increase and decrease in the state that the heat source is heating the fixing belt.
