An image processing apparatus includes a display and one or a plurality of processors that executes the following processes: determining one of a plurality of screen switch groups as a search target, the plurality of screen switch groups each being composed of a plurality of multi-level screens, the multi-level screens to be displayed on the display; obtaining strings by searching the determined screen switch group, the strings each having a keyword specified by the user, the strings representing setting options to be set on the multi-level screens, the multi-level screens composing the determined screen switch group; and displaying the setting options on the display in a manner allowing the user to select one of the setting options, the setting options being represented by the obtained strings, and then displaying a screen for setting one of the setting options upon the one setting option being selected by the user.

A display device includes: a display unit capable of displaying a setting screen having an input area for an input value and a keypad screen having soft keys on the same screen; a determiner configured to determine an acceptable input value range of the input area displayed on the display unit; and a display controller configured to display only soft keys on the keypad screen, wherein the keypad screen has a fixed area in which the soft key is fixedly displayed and a variable area in which the soft key is variably displayed, the soft keys are classified into a common key and an individual key other than the common key, and the display controller displays the common key in the fixed area of the keypad screen and the individual key in the variable area of the keypad screen out of the soft keys.

An information processing apparatus includes a display unit displaying a screen which accepts a touch operation on the information processing apparatus, a touch operation unit accepting the touch operation, a touch event issuance unit issuing one or more touch events respectively corresponding to one or more touch operations on the touch operation unit, and a gesture control unit capable of performing each of a mode for performing corresponding processing based on the one or more touch events issued by the touch event issuance unit, and a reproduction mode for reproducing the touch event stored beforehand. The gesture control unit is configured to add an operation image indicating the touch operation corresponding to the stored touch event, to a region associated with the touch event in the reproduction mode, and to cause the display unit to display the operation image.

An MFP (Multi-Functional Peripheral) as an information processing apparatus accepts an input through a keyboard selectively displayed on the touch panel of an operation terminal from among a plurality of keyboards configured with software key groups different from each other. The MFP displays a setting screen including a plurality of input areas on the touch panel. When the setting screen appears, the MFP acquires the type of the selectively displayed keyboard and decides an input accepting area that accepts an input through the selectively displayed keyboard, from among the plurality of input areas.

The image forming system includes an image forming apparatus and a communication terminal. When it is detected that an operation is being performed onto an input unit of the image forming apparatus while the image forming apparatus is connected to the communication terminal, the image forming apparatus is configured to perform a first notification to notify the communication terminal that an operation is being performed onto the input unit. When the image forming apparatus performs the first notification, the communication terminal is configured to perform a second notification corresponding to the first notification in the communication terminal.

A portable terminal apparatus includes an access portion that enables access to an information processing apparatus; an image obtaining portion that obtains an image of a character input tool, a transmitter that transmits the image of the character input tool to the information processing apparatus; a receiver that receives touched key information from the information processing apparatus, and a character identification portion that identifies a character on the basis of the touched key information received by the receiver, wherein the image obtaining portion obtains a different image of the character input tool upon each change to a screen appearance of the character input tool or upon each receipt of the touched key information and the transmitter transmits the different image of the character input tool and character information to the information processing apparatus.
