    Abstract: This is a process for growing non-epitaxially a different crystal upon a base crystal surface and thereafter destroying said different crystal, thereby generating a uniformly random arrangement of surface irregularities which are independent of lattice orientation in the base crystal. The texture of the treated surface is unlike prior art surfaces, whether produced chemically or mechanically, and specular reflections are essentially eliminated.
