    摘要: An arrangement for reproducing an electric signal from a track on a magnetic record carrier (2) includes a magnetic read head (1) for reading from the track an electric signal and for supplying the electric signal to an output, and automatic equalizer filter (5), including transconductance-capacitor filter (6). The transc-filter (6) has a tuning signal input (8). The equalizer filter (5) has a control signal input (15) and is adapted to automatically equalize the electric signal read from the track in response to a control signal supplied to its control signal input, and to supply an equalized output signal at its output (12). The tuning signal input of the transc-filter is coupled to the control signal input of the equalizer filter. The arrangement further includes a control signal generator (13,16) having an output (16) coupled to the control signal input (15) of the equalizer filter (5), the generator being adapted to generate a control signal and to supply the control signal to its output (16). The transconductance-capacitor filter (6) has a magnitude filter characteristic which increases with increasing frequencies in a frequency range below a reference frequency of the filter. The transconductance-capacitor filter is adapted to control the reference frequency in the filter characteristic in response to the control signal, so as to vary the angle of inclination of the filter curve below the reference frequency.

    摘要: An arrangement for producing a digital signal from an input (e.g., analog) signal obtained from a transmission medium. The arrangement includes a variable equalizer for equalizing the input signal as regards magnitude and phase as a function of frequency to produce an equalized signal, an equalizer control signal generator for generating first and second control signals for controlling the variable equalizer and a detector for producing the digital signal from the equalized signal. The arrangement further includes a bit array selector (i.e., a bit sequence detector) for generating one or two selection signals upon detection of one or more specific bit arrays (i.e., bit sequences) in the digital signal, and a sample-and-hold unit which samples one or more portions of the equalized signal under the influence of the one or two selection signals so as to produce at least one first sample value and at least one second sample value. The first and second control signals are derived in whole or in part from arithmetical combinations of the at least one first sample value and the at least one second sample value. The variable equalizer equalizes the input signal as regards magnitude in response to the first control signal and as regards phase in response to the second control signal.

    摘要: A format for the recording of trick play signals in which trick play segments including sync blocks of information of a trick play signal are recorded in the tracks. At least first and second trick play signals are recorded on the record carrier. The first trick play signal is meant for reproduction in a reproduction apparatus at a reproduction speed n1 times the recording speed with which the trick play signals are recorded on the record carrier. The second trick play signal is meant for reproduction in the reproduction apparatus at a reproduction speed −n1 times the recording speed. Both trick play signals are recorded in the tracks such that, upon reproduction at the speed n1 times the recording speed, m1 sync blocks of information of the first trick play signal and, upon reproduction at the speed −n1 times the recording speed, m1 sync blocks of the second trick play signal are read from the record carrier during one revolution of the head drum in the reproduction apparatus. Further, a direction identifier is stored in the trick play sync blocks, indicating whether a trick play sync block is meant for a specific trick play speed in the forward or in the reverse direction.

    摘要: In an arrangement comprising a phase control circuit the phase comparator, when receiving input pulses with which the clock pulses are in phase, will produce an output signal having a pulse frequency which is twice the pulse frequency of the input pulses. The ripple on the control-voltage for the oscillator to be controlled resulting therefrom is compensated for by adding to the output signal of the phase detector a signal which is opposite in phase to the output signal. The result is that only frequency- and phase errors produce a ripple (change) on the output signal.

    摘要: A phase comparison circuit for producing an output signal which is a measure of the phase difference between first (A) and second (B) pulse trains applied to respective first and second inputs thereof. The circuit is immune to the omission of a pulse from one of the trains and to pulse length inequality in the two trains. It comprises a logic circuit, two switchable current sources connected to a capacitor (17), a switchable constant voltage source, i.e. a controllable switch (18) connected to the capacitor, and a sampling circuit connected to the capacitor. The logic circuit generates four output signals that control the first current source, the second current source, the constant voltage source, and the sampling circuit respectively so that the charge on the capacitor is changed in a positive sense by the first current source when a pulse of the first train is present while a pulse of the second train is absent and in the other sense by the second current source when a pulse of the second train is present while a pulse of the first train is absent. The capacitor charge is restored to a reference value (zero) by the constant voltage source when pulses of both trains are absent simultaneously. The sampling circuit samples the capacitor voltage when pulses of both trains are present simultaneously.

    摘要: A trick play information stream is generated from a normal play information stream, so that they can be recorded together as a composite information stream on the record carrier, such that upon reproduction in a trick play reproduction mode, an information signal of sufficient quality, e.g., as regards visibility, can be obtained. GOPs are generated, each GOP including an I-frame retrieved from the original normal play information stream, and one or more so-called ‘empty P frames’. Another aspect is the requirement of generating GOPs for the trick play information stream that have a constant bitcost per GOP. Again, another aspect lies in the retrieval of the I-frame for the trick play information stream from the normal play information. More specifically, an I-frame is generated by retrieving, from an I-frame included in the normal play information, the DC coefficient of the I-frame and a number of AC coefficients from that I frame, and generating the I-frame for the trick play information stream therefrom. More specifically, the number of AC coefficients for an I-frame of the trick play information signal depends on the difference between the DC coefficients of two subsequent I-frames in the normal play information from which the I-frame to be generated and the just previously generated I-frame for the trick play information signal have been derived.

The trick play signal is meant for reproduction in a corresponding reproduction apparatus at a record carrier trick play speed which is n1 times the nominal reproduction speed. Time stamps are added to the packets included in the trick play signal, and sync block numbers are added to the sync blocks including a packet, and the sync blocks are recorded at specific positions in the tracks. A specific algorithm is provided to determine those positions, dependent of the time stamps, and the sync block numbers given, such that upon reproduction at the trick play speed, the reproduction apparatus requires a buffer memory of a limited capacity.
