摘要： A method of setting security codes in a remote communicating device using a base unit in a cordless telephone system includes the steps of bringing the remote communicating device into electrical contact with the base unit, wherein the base unit stores a transmitting security code (TC) and a receiving security code (RC), different from the TC; determining whether the remote communicating device is either a remote receiving device (RRD), a remote transmitting device (RTD), or a remote combination transmitting/receiving device (RCD); setting the remote communicating device with the RC if the remote communicating device is the RRD, or the TC if the remote communicating device is the RTD, or both the RC and the TC if the remote communicating device is the RCD, as determined above, said setting done via the electrical contact with the base unit; and verifying the RC or TC or both the RC and the TC in the RRD, RTD, or RCD, respectively, as determined above, said verifying done via the electrical contact with the base unit. The RC is selectable at the base unit by a user, thereby setting the same selected RC each time the RRD or the RCD is set, and the TC is automatically randomized by the base unit, thereby setting a different TC each time the RTD or the RCD is set.

摘要： A low cost cordless telephone system including a base unit, connected to a telephone network, which can transmit and receive RF signals to and from sub-communicating devices. The sub-communicating devices include a cordless microphone for converting acoustical signals to electrical signals and providing same to a transmitter which transmits corresponding simplex RF signals on a cordless telephone frequency to a base unit attached to a telephone network; and a cordless speaker which receives simplex RF signals from a base unit and broadcasts a corresponding telephone conversation. The base unit may connect directly to a telephone network or, in an alternate embodiment, to the handset jack of an existing telephone, thereby interfacing to existing phones including those connected to digital telephone systems. The base unit may also include a speaker used to broadcast the telephone conversation. The base unit speaker and the cordless speaker each may optionally broadcast both sides of the phone conversation, including the presenter's speech received from the cordless microphone. The system may also be interfaced to an existing sound system via a remote interface unit or the base unit.

摘要： There is provided a method for emergency service access using a mobil telephone. When an emergency situation arises and a caller enters an emergency number such as 911 [send] from a locked mobile telephone, the mobile telephone compares the entered value (911) with a list of emergency numbers stored in the memory of the mobile telephone. If the entered number is on the known emergency number list, the mobile telephone immediately places the emergency call even though the telephone is locked. All other key combinations will be compared to a user defined access code previously stored in memory. If the entered value matches the value stored in memory, the mobile phone will be unlocked and ready for normal use. If the values do not match, the mobile phone will remain disabled. In addition, during an emergency call, a mobile provider provides a set of emergency contact records (ECR) to an emergency public service answering point (PSAP). These emergency contact records may include information for each member in the family, including the individual's name, home address, phone number, physical description, emergency contact name and number, doctor's name and number, emergency medical information, such as drug allergies, temporary conditions, such as a pregnancy, a digital image, and any other information the subscriber deems relevant for the PSAP to know in an emergency. In the event the subscriber places a call while not in the subscriber's home system, the local MSC will send a request to the subscriber's home system asking the home system to send the subscriber's ECRs to the PSAP. In an additional embodiment of the invention, the MSCs will send a request to an independent organization which maintains ECRs and request the organization to send the information to the PSAP selected by the MSC.
