    摘要: An acoustical logging apparatus which has a means for interfering with those unwanted signals which inherently travel in the mud between the transmitter and the closest receiver of said apparatus during a logging operation. The signal interference means comprises a rotating sleeve having signal attenuation elements mounted thereon which are adapted to extend to the wall of the borehole to act as a centralizer when the apparatus is in the borehole. These elements are vertically stacked in an overlapped relationship so as to present an obstructed path through the mud for said signals but so as to offer only nominal resistance to displacement of mud as the apparatus is moved therethrough.

    摘要: A detector circuit (301) is utilized in a DC to DC converter (300) having an inductor (356) coupled to a switch (358) for interrupting an electric current through the inductor (356), thereby allowing the inductor (356) to transfer stored energy to a capacitive load (364). The detector circuit (301) includes a capacitor (302) coupled to the inductor (356) for generating a transient current (428) in response to a completion of a transfer of stored energy from the inductor (356). The detector circuit (301) further includes a reference current generator (306) for generating a reference current, and a summing node (304) coupled to the capacitor (302) and coupled to the reference current generator (306) for summing the transient current (428) and the reference current. The two summed currents form a transient control current (436) responsive to the completion (424) of the transfer of stored energy from the inductor (356).

    摘要: To produce power using the cold in a stored fluid in a cold condensed state (for example, LNG or liquid air), the fluid is initially pumped, heated, and expanded to generate a first amount of power and form initially expanded fluid, which is then re-condensed, re-pumped, re-heated, and re-expanded to generate a second amount of power, where the initially expanded fluid is re-condensed against the pumped fluid from the initial pumping. The technique can be used to store excess energy in the cold condensed fluid using excess energy generation capacity for subsequent recovery when energy is either deficient or otherwise more expense to generate.
