Abstract: A control device for an in-vehicle unit installed in a vehicle having a warning light includes a control circuit and a storage circuit. The control circuit executes an abnormality detection process, a detection result write-in process, and a lighting request output process. The storage circuit retains contents of the history information even when the in-vehicle unit is powered on or powered off. The control circuit is configured to retrieve the contents of the history information from the storage circuit when the in-vehicle unit is powered on. When the detection history is written in the retrieved contents, the control circuit outputs the lighting request even when an abnormality of the in-vehicle unit cannot be detected by the abnormality detection process.

Abstract: Each control circuit of a control device for a vehicle drives a motor in one of driving modes that are switched according to an operation state of the control circuit of a system other than an own system. The driving modes include an own-system shutdown mode in which the power supply to a winding set of the own system is stopped when the operation state of the control circuit of a system other than the own system is abnormal. Even when the operation state of the control circuit of a system other than the own system is abnormal, each control circuit does not shift the driving mode to the own-system shutdown mode when an own operation state is a specific operation state in which safety problems are deemed unlikely.

Abstract: A steer-by-wire steering system includes: a steering device including a steering motor powered by a main power source and/or a backup power source; and a controller configured to control the steering device based on a steering request. When the backup power source is normal, the controller executes an abnormal-situation control based on electric power supplied to the steering motor by the main power source and/or the backup power source when the controller determines that the voltage of the main power source is less than a first threshold. When the backup power source is abnormal, the controller executes the abnormal-situation control based on electric power supplied to the steering motor by the main power source when the controller determines that the voltage of the main power source is less than a second threshold that is greater than the first threshold.
