摘要： A method, executed by at least one processor, includes generating a snapshot for a plurality of data files, receiving an update request for a selected file of the plurality of data files, determining if the selected file is subject to a backup policy, updating the selected file without preserving the snapshot of the selected file if the selected file is not subject to the backup policy, and updating the selected file while preserving the snapshot of the selected file if the selected file is subject to the backup policy. A corresponding computer program product and computer system are also disclosed herein.

摘要： Provided are techniques for organizing a temporary device group for collaborative computing. A list of functions for each of a plurality of devices are stored. A determination is made to form a device group including a receiver device from the plurality of devices, where the receiver device will perform one of the functions. An individual function usage score is generated. In response to the individual function usage score exceeding a device threshold, a request to form a device group is sent to the receiver device. In response to receiving an indication of acceptance to form the device group from the receiving device, the device group is formed for a temporary period, where functions and data are shared in the device group.

摘要： A backup method is provided for a file system for managing hierarchical storage including one or more storage media on a computer system including one or more computers. Each of the one or more storage media includes a data part which is separated from an index and on which updated information is appended and kept. Each of a plurality of pieces of data within the file system is managed to be migrated to at least any of the one or more storage media. The backup method includes backing up metadata of the plurality of pieces of data migrated within the file system; and backing up the index of each of the one or more storage media to which the plurality of pieces of data have been migrated, substantially at the same time point as the metadata.

摘要： In one embodiment, a system includes a disk cache that includes a plurality of hard disk drives (HDDs) and a controller. The controller is configured to create one or more tape-managed partitions in the disk cache, each of the one or more tape-managed partitions being configured to store data that is subject to hierarchical storage management (HSM). The controller is also configured to create a premigration queue configured to service premigration data for all of the one or more tape-managed partitions. Moreover, the controller is configured to receive a premigration delay value for a first tape-managed partition, the premigration delay value defining a time period that elapses prior to queuing the premigration data for the first tape-managed partition to the premigration queue. The premigration delay value is based on a volume creation time. Other systems, methods, and computer program products are described in accordance with more embodiments.
