摘要: A system and method enhance the user experience in a digital radio by reducing the service switching time between frequencies. The system includes a digital radio transmitter to transmit digital data in a digital radio broadcast standard. The digital radio transmitter includes a first service channel to carry basic service selection information and a second service channel to carry information required for decoding. The digital radio transmitter includes a main service channel to transmit digital audio services and data services. A central server stores information channel data of all digital radio stations. A digital radio receiver stores the first service channel and the second service channel information of all frequencies other than the currently tuned frequency to the receiver internal storage and uses the stored information for demodulating and decoding at the time of service switching between frequencies.

摘要: Large data transmission in digital radio broadcasting system and method are disclosed. A first channel information of tuned frequency indicates the availability of the data distribution table. Second channel information contains the data distribution info table (list of frequencies mapped to data chunk identifiers). Data chunks have a unique id. Digital broadcast radio receiver receives data distribution tables and parses through the currently tuned frequencies data distribution table. The receiver has information on how to collect the distributed data. Receiver uses its primary tuner to receive the data chunks in the current tuned frequency. Rest of the data chunks are collected by the background tuners in a parallel fashion by tuning to required frequencies. Once all chunks are collected, data file is reconstructed and available for presentation to the user.

摘要: A system and method for alternate program experience in digital broadcasting multiplexes different time duration-based versions of the currently broadcasted program in the same frequency in a broadcast environment. Every program broadcasted in a SES (Special Experience Services) could have different versions (every version is a separate hidden service) of the same program i.e., tiny version, short version, standard version, main/detailed version, wherein the versions differ in the time duration. While parsing the channel information, the Broadcast Media Receiver will comprehend the presence of SES and different hidden services associated with the SES. Depending on the broadcaster business model or/and the user purchased plan, the user will be presented with the option of viewing and selecting the different versions of the program. Upon selection of the version, the receiver switches to the respective hidden service and thereby start playing the respective version of the program.
