    Abstract: An access point (AP) energy saving method and an AP relate to the field of communications technologies, and effectively implement energy saving for the AP. The method includes determining that an AP is not associated with any terminal and there is not any to-be-associated terminal within a preset time segment, and turning off, by the AP, an extended radio frequency circuit, where an operating frequency band of the extended radio frequency circuit is a wireless local area network (WLAN) frequency band other than a 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) frequency band.
