Abstract: Provided herein is a data synchronization method, to increase, without increasing cost of a data synchronization service, an amount of synchronization data stored on a server. The method includes: determining that there is target data that meets a specified condition in a first data set on a first server, where the first data set includes synchronization data of a terminal device; storing the target data into a second data set on a second server, and deleting the target data from the first data set. When a downlink data synchronization request sent by the terminal device is received, data in the first data set is used to synchronously update corresponding synchronization data on the terminal device, and data in the second data set is used to not synchronously update corresponding synchronization data on the terminal device.
