Abstract: A method for starting inter-frequency measurement is provided. The method is applied to an inter-frequency network, the inter-frequency network includes a first base station and a second base station, there is an overlapping area between a signal coverage area of the first base station and a signal coverage area of the second base station, and an access priority of the second base station is higher than an access priority of the first base station; user equipment accesses the first base station; a distance between the second base station and an AP is less than a first distance threshold, and the AP is controlled by an AC. The method includes: receiving, by the AC, a user authentication request; obtaining an identifier of the user equipment from the user authentication request; and sending an inter-frequency measurement request to the user equipment according to the identifier of the user equipment.

Abstract: A method for locating an idle-state user equipment and an apparatus are disclosed. An access network device updates a cell location identifier in a system message to a preset location identifier, and notifies, by using a paging message, idle-state UE in a cell that the system message is changed, so as to trigger the idle-state UE in the cell to read the system message and learn that the cell location identifier is updated. Therefore, the idle-state UE is triggered to initiate a location update process. The access network device locates the idle-state UE in the cell according to the location update process initiated by the idle-state UE in the cell, thereby locating the idle-state UE.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose an energy saving method for a wireless AP, including: when it is detected that a time during which a wireless AP transmits no packet uplink or downlink and is associated with no station is greater than a preset time threshold, disabling, by the wireless AP, a transmit channel, and retaining only a receive channel; listening for, by the wireless AP, a Probe Request through the receive channel; and if the Probe Request obtained by listening meets a preset activation condition, enabling, by the wireless AP, the transmit channel. The embodiments of the present invention further disclose a wakeup method for a wireless AP and related devices. By means of the present invention, power consumption of a wireless AP can be effectively reduced.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an energy-saving method and apparatus for a heterogeneous network. The energy-saving method for a heterogeneous network includes: performing traffic detection on a cluster, where the cluster includes at least one first network device configured to provide a capacity enhanced network resource; and migrating a service in the cluster to a second network device if traffic of the cluster does not exceed a first preset threshold, and turning off the first network device in the cluster, where the second network device is configured to provide a coverage-type network resource, and network coverage of the first network device is within network coverage of the second network device. By means of the energy-saving method and apparatus for a heterogeneous network that are provided in the embodiments of the present invention, energy-saving processing on a heterogeneous network is implemented and a resource waste is avoided.
