Abstract: A propellant charge for caseless ammunition is provided comprising a base propellant charge and a heat and combustible combustible surface coating bonded to the exterior surface of the base charge. This surface coating functions to prevent undesired autoignition of the base charge. The surface coating is an intimate admixture of a crosslinked polyacrylic rubber binder and an organic oxidizer.
