Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for generating and transmitting, or applying, a noise profile based on a determined environment a host device is operating in. The host device may receive data from one or more sensors, location information, and/or device information. The sensors may include a pressure, temperature, light, location, or humidity sensor. The location information may include data from a global positioning system and/or connectivity signals, such as multicast DNS and/or Bluetooth broadcast. Device information may include schedule data and/or device state information. The data from one or more sensors, the location information, and/or the device information may be aggregated to determine the environment in which the host device is operating in. Based on the determined environment, a noise profile generator may generate a noise profile. The noise profile may define gains to be applied to audio signals being output to the user.

Abstract: The subject matter described herein provides systems and techniques for filtering an audio signal using active noise cancellation (ANC). A channel response finite impulse response (CR FIR) filter in a conventional ANC system may be replaced with a two filter cascade configuration. The first filter in the cascade filter configuration may be a CR FIR filter with interleaved zero coefficients and the second filter may be a response interpolator filter that is a fixed interpolator. The CR FIR filter in the two filter cascade may be adaptive and may have its non-zero coefficients tracked, updated, adapted, and/or computed. The fixed interpolator in the two filter cascade may be fixed and therefore non-adaptive. The channel frequency response profile of the two filter cascade configuration may be similar to the channel frequency response profile of the conventional CR FIR filter that the cascade filter configuration replaces.

Abstract: A hybrid ANC system that can allow a feedback microphone to receive the same external noise as a feedforward microphone. A processor can generate an anti-noise signal based on what both microphones received to cancel a broader range of frequencies of the external noise.

Abstract: Adaptive howling suppression is provided for active noise control (ANC) systems of wearable audio components (WACs), such as earbuds, based on detecting whether the WACs are presently being worn. Upon first detecting howling, embodiments can pre-suppress the howling audio signature by reducing ANC output. Then, embodiments detect whether the WAC is presently on-ear (worn) or off-ear and attempt to fully suppress the howling using different parameters, based on this detection. For example, if on-ear, embodiments use on-ear tuning settings to cycle through a set of suppression stages until ANC output can be restored without howling; if off-ear, embodiments use off-ear tuning settings to cycle through the set of suppression stages until ANC output can be restored without howling. Once ANC output can be restored without howling, the system can be released to a normal idle state.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and method for adjusting the audio output of a wearable device based on an audio gain profile of a user. The wearable device may receive an audiogram indicating one or more frequency ranges associated with hearing loss. The wearable device may determine the audio gain profile based on the audiogram. The wearable device may use one or more adjustment modules to determine a gain to apply to the audio output based on the audio gain profile. The adjustment modules may include an active noise control module, a hearing assistance module, and a transparency control module. The wearable device may determine the amount of gain to apply using a least mean square algorithm and/or a machine learning model.

Abstract: A wearable device includes a feedforward microphone; a feedback microphone; a voice accelerometer; and one or more processors in communication with the feedforward microphone, the feedback microphone, and the voice accelerometer. The one or more processors may be configured to receive an occlusion effect (“OE”) profile associated with increased sound pressure level within an ear canal; determine an OE gain profile based on the OE profile; receive voice accelerometer data; adjust the OE gain profile based on the voice accelerometer data; generate an OE cancellation signal based on the OE gain profile to equalize the OE profile; receive, from the feedforward microphone, first audio content including external audio; receive, from the feedback microphone, second audio content including audio within the ear canal of a user; and adjust, based on the OE cancellation signal and the received first and second audio content, an audio output.
