Abstract: A method of transient control of a thermal transport bus of a turbomachine includes measuring a measured temperature and a measured pressure of a working fluid; determining a selected run state of a turbomachine, wherein the selected run state is one of a plurality of run states; selecting a desired operating condition comprising a desired temperature range and a desired pressure range as a function of a desired state of the working fluid; comparing the measured temperature with the desired temperature range, and comparing the measured pressure with the desired pressure range; and modulating control of the thermal transport bus as a function of the comparing of the measured temperature with the desired temperature range and the comparing of the measured pressure with the desired pressure range.

Abstract: A turbine engine for an aircraft includes a turbo-engine with a core air flow path, a fan having a fan shaft coupled to the turbo-engine to rotate the fan shaft, and a steam system. The core air flow path includes a plurality of core air flow path zones. A combustor is positioned in the core air flow path to combust fuel and to generate combustion gases. The steam system extracts water from combustion gases and vaporizes the water to generate steam. The steam system is fluidly coupled to a core air flow path to inject the steam into the core air flow path at a plurality of steam injection zones to add mass flow to the core air. Each steam injection zone of the plurality of steam injection zones corresponds to a core air flow path zone of the plurality of core air flow path zones.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating or determining a rate or an amount of fuel coke formation in a fuel system, such as of a gas turbine engine. The system is operable to control a rate of fuel coke formation. The system may include a sensor that measures an operating parameter associated with fuel coke formation in the fuel system. A controller is in communication with the sensor to receive the signal therefrom for determining an amount or a rate of fuel coking in the fuel system. Based on this determination the controller may adjust the rate of fuel coke formation by adjusting the operation of the turbine engine, a thermal management system of the turbine engine, or the fuel system.

Abstract: A control system may generate a first simulated value for an aircraft sensor by applying one or more first input parameters to a sensor map model via a processor. The control system may compare the first simulated value and the first output of the aircraft sensor to determine a first calibration value and save calibration data in a memory based on the first calibration value. The control system may generate a calibrated simulation value of the aircraft sensor based on the sensor map model and the calibration data. The control system may determine validity of a second output of the aircraft sensor, utilize the second output of the aircraft sensor to perform an operation of the aircraft when the second output of the aircraft sensor is valid, and utilize the calibrated simulation value to perform the operation of the aircraft when the second output of the aircraft sensor is invalid.

Abstract: A turbine engine for an aircraft. The turbine engine includes a combustor, a core shaft, a turbine, and a steam system providing steam to a core air flow path. The steam system includes a boiler that receives combustion gases to boil water to generate steam. A steam turbine is fluidly coupled to the boiler to receive the steam from the boiler and to cause the steam turbine to rotate. The steam turbine is coupled to the core shaft to rotate the core shaft when the steam turbine rotates. The steam system may include a bypass flow path selectively operable to redirect at least one of the steam or water, and to bypass the core air flow path. The turbine engine may also include at least one steam control valve located downstream of the boiler and upstream of the core air flow path to control the flow of steam.
