Abstract: A combustion engine with at least one injector for the injection of liquid fuel into at least one combustion chamber is provided. The injector can be regulated by means of a regulating device through an actuator triggering signal, wherein the at least one injector has an outlet opening that can be closed by means of a needle. An algorithm is contained in the regulating device, which receives as an input value at least the actuator trigger signal, and which calculates via an injector model the mass of liquid fuel transferred via the outlet opening of the injector. The regulating device compares by means of the injector model, the calculated mass with a required target value ref of the mass of liquid fuel, to correct the actuator trigger signal.

Abstract: In a method of controlling a dual fuel engine in which power in the form of a first gaseous fuel and in the form of a self-igniting second fuel is fed to at least one combustion chamber, a knock signal representative of the combustion chamber is detected. When a knock signal indicating a knock of at least a first intensity is detected, the amount of first fuel fed to the combustion chamber of the engine is increased, the increased introduction of power into the combustion chamber caused by the increase in the amount of first fuel being compensated by a corresponding reduction in the power contribution of the second fuel. When a knock signal indicating a knock of at least a second intensity greater than the first intensity is detected, the amount of first fuel is reduced.

Abstract: A dual-fuel internal combustion engine is provided with at least one combustion chamber assigned to an intake valve for a gas-air mixture and to an injector for liquid fuel. A control device performs a switch-over in a switch-over mode, wherein an amount of energy supplied to the at least one combustion chamber by means of the gas-air mixture is changed, and an injected amount of liquid fuel and/or a time of the injection of the liquid fuel is changed. A sensor provides signals characteristic of occurring knock in the at least one combustion chamber, wherein the control device performs the switch-over with evaluation of the sensor signals. The control device performs the evaluation of the sensor signals based on the injected amount of liquid fuel in the at least one combustion chamber. If knock occurs above a specified first knock threshold value, the control device performs knock-reducing measures if the injected amount of liquid fuel lies below a specified liquid fuel threshold value and/or if knock occurs above a specified first knock threshold value, the control device does not perform knock-reducing measures or performs knock-reducing measures only in a restricted manner if the injected amount of liquid fuel lies above a specified liquid fuel threshold value and if the knock lies below a specified second threshold value.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine including a control device, at least one combustion chamber, and at least one injector for injecting liquid fuel into the at least one combustion chamber is provided. The injector can be controlled by the control device by means of an actuator control signal. An algorithm is stored in the control device, which algorithm receives the actuator control signal and using an injector model calculates the amount of liquid fuel that is discharged via the discharge opening of the injector and compares the amount of liquid fuel calculated by means of the injector model with a desired target value of the amount of liquid fuel. Depending on the result of the comparison, the control device leaves the actuator control signal the same or corrects it.
