A feature information acquisition unit acquires the first feature information on the first medical image and second feature information on the second medical image having an imaging time different from an imaging time of the first medical image. A sentence creation unit compares the first feature information and the second feature information generated by the feature information acquisition unit, and creates a sentence representing a change between the first medical image and the second medical image. A display control unit causes the display unit to display a sentence representing a change.

An image layout generating apparatus includes: a first image arranging unit for extracting a first piece of image data from a plurality of image data, and arrange a first image; an image data extracting unit for extracting a new piece of image data; an arranged image selecting unit configured to calculate an inter-image distance between the new piece of image data and image data of each arranged image, and select one of the arranged images; a second image arranging unit configured to arrange a new image to be above, below, left, or right of the selected arranged image by adjusting a size while maintaining an aspect ratio of the new image; and a size adjusting unit configured to adjust the sizes while maintaining the aspect ratios of all the arranged images so as to configure one set of images in which all of the arranged images overall form a rectangle.

Provided are an image evaluation system, as well as an image evaluation method, and recording medium storing an image evaluation program, in which when an image is selected from among multiple images, images are evaluated in such a manner that an image such as a scenic image or still-life image will be selected with little image bias. To achieve this, an individual image composition/subject matrix is found, the matrix comprising types of composition and types of subject included in an image. A total image composition/subject matrix is obtained by adding individual image composition/subject matrices regarding respective ones of multiple images. A composition evaluation matrix and a subject evaluation matrix are found from the total image composition/subject matrix. Image evaluation values regarding respective ones of the multiple images are calculated from a matrix product of the individual image composition/subject matrix, composition evaluation matrix and subject evaluation matrix.

An image allocation device and an image allocation method are provided which are capable of calculating image characteristic quantities of a plurality of image data corresponding to a plurality of images, classifying the plurality of image data into image groups, whose number corresponds with the number of pages of display pages, based on the image characteristic quantities, and changing the sequence of the image groups according to the distances between the image groups as determined by the image characteristic quantities.
