Abstract: A zoom lens essentially consists of positive first lens group, negative second lens group, negative third lens group, negative fourth lens group, and positive fifth lens group in this order from an object side. First and fifth lens groups are fixed with respect to an image plane, and second through fourth lens groups move in such a manner that a distance from each other changes when magnification is changed from a wide angle end to a telephoto end.
