Abstract: In a high-tension circuit breaker including, in the high-tension side thereof insulated from the ground side by porcelain insulating tubes or the like, a contact mechanism which operates interrupting contacts of the circuit breaker utilizing electric energy stored in a capacitor, there is provided means for charging the capacitor from the high-tension line voltage of the circuit breaker. Various modifications of the charging means are also described.

Abstract: Described herein is a control device for a circuit breaker, which is so arranged that an electric power is supplied to a high potential side through an insulating transformer thereby to charge a capacitor, said capacitor being discharged by an operating signal thereby to start a switching operation at a great rate; in which a current limit device is provided on the ground side of the said insulating transformer as a result of which the insulating transformer can be made smaller, a switching operation can be achieved even in the re-charging period of the capacitor, and a recharging time of the capacitor is made shorter, and furthermore a pressure or stress wave propagating in an insulation bar is utilized so as to accurately transfer an operating signal issued from the ground side to a discharge gap placed on the high potential side without time delay.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a circuit breaker comprising as its constructive elements, an insulation transformer adapted to supply an electric power from the ground potential portion to a control device placed on a high potential portion, or a current transformer connected to a line potential portion, a stray capacity of the insulation transformer or current transformer being skillfully utilized whereby measurement or observation of a system voltage can be readily achieved without use of a separate capacitor type potential divider for measuring a voltage between contacts of the circuit breaker.
