摘要: In at least one embodiment, a process to produce a poly alpha-olefin (PAO) includes introducing a first alpha-olefin to a first catalyst system comprising activator and a metallocene compound into a continuous stirred tank reactor or a continuous tubular reactor under first reactor conditions to form a first reactor effluent. The first alpha-olefin is introduced to the reactor at a flow rate of about 100 g/hr or more. The first reactor effluent includes at least 60 wt % of PAO dimer and 40 wt % or less of higher oligomers, where the higher oligomers are oligomers that have a degree of polymerization of 3 or more. The process includes introducing the first reactor effluent and a second alpha-olefin to a second catalyst composition including an acid catalyst in a second reactor to form a second reactor effluent comprising PAO trimer.

摘要: This invention relates to a method comprising contacting C3-C32 alpha olefin with catalyst system comprising activator and catalyst of the formula wherein: M is Hf or Zr; T is a bridging group; each X is independently a leaving group; R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, or a Ci-Gto optionally substituted hydrocarbyl group, halide, or siloxyl group; R3, R4, R5 and R6 are independently a Ci-Gto optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, halocarbyl, silylcarbyl, aminocarbyl, or siloxyl group; and A is an aliphatic, aromatic or heteroaromatic ring, optionally bearing one or more additional fused rings which may be aliphatic, aromatic or heteroaromatic; obtaining a plurality of vinyl-terminated polyalphaolefins (PAOs) having at least 30 mol % vinyl terminated PAO's.

摘要: The present disclosure provides processes and apparatus for producing poly alpha olefins. In at least one embodiment, a process to produce a poly alpha olefin includes introducing a first olefin monomer to a first catalyst and an activator in a first reactor to form a first reactor effluent comprising an olefin dimer and an olefin trimer. The process includes introducing the first reactor effluent to a filtration unit to form a filtration effluent, and introducing the filtration effluent to a first distillation unit to form a first distillation effluent. The process includes introducing the first distillation effluent (or a second distillation effluent) to a second catalyst in a second reactor to form a second reactor effluent comprising the olefin trimer. The process includes removing a sample at any stage of the process and introducing the sample to a gas chromatograph.

摘要: The present disclosure generally relates to processes to produce alpha-olefin oligomers and poly alpha-olefins. In an embodiment, the present disclosure provides a process to produce a poly alpha-olefin (PAO), the process including: introducing a C6-C32 alpha-olefin and a catalyst system comprising activator and a metallocene compound into a continuous stirred tank reactor or a continuous tubular reactor under reaction conditions, wherein the alpha-olefin is introduced to the reactor at a flow rate of about 100 g/hr or more; and obtaining a product comprising PAO dimer and optional higher oligomers of alpha-olefin, or a combination thereof, the PAO dimer comprising 96 mol % or more of vinylidene, based on total moles of vinylidene, disubstituted vinylene, and trisubstituted vinylene in the product. In at least one embodiment, a process includes functionalizing and/or hydrogenating a PAO product of the present disclosure. In at least one embodiment, a blend includes a PAO product of the present disclosure.

The method includes introducing the first reactor effluent, a second alpha-olefin and a second catalyst composition comprising an acid catalyst into a second reactor under second reactor conditions to form a second reactor effluent comprising PAO trimer.

摘要: A composition and methods for making the same. The composition includes an isoolefin having from 4 to 7 carbons, a first styrene, and a second styrene alkylated with a diene to have a pendant double bond. A copolymer having units derived from an isoolefin having from 4 to 7 carbons and an alkylstyrene can be reacted with a diene to provide the composition. The reaction of the copolymer with the diene can be reacted in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature of about 80° C. to about 200° C.

摘要: Vinylidene olefins may undergo hydroformylation in the presence of an unmodified cobalt catalyst to form compositions comprising a mixture of alcohol molecules having a specified amount of branching. In particular, the compositions may feature a mixture comprising reduced hydroformylated reaction products of a vinylidene olefin comprising alcohol molecules represented by at least one of Structures 3-5. The mixture has an average of about 1.2 to about 2.1 branches per alcohol molecule. Ra and Rb may be the same or different and comprise a branched or unbranched alkyl group having about 6 to about 14 carbon atoms, excluding branches. Variable m is an integer ranging from 0 to a number of carbon atoms in Rb. Rb is a branched or unbranched alkyl group having m+1 carbon atoms less than Rb.
