摘要: A fracture treatment system can include a pair of implants cross-pinned into the medullary canal of a bone, guided by at least one guide wire with at least two diameters. The system allows for more accurate sizing of the length of implants needed to achieve bicortical purchase for enhanced stability, as well as anti-rotation of the fracture site. The more accurate sizing and placement of the cross-pinned implants additionally allow both ends of the implants to recess beneath or be flush with the outer surface of the bone, which can reduce the risk of infection. The guide wire can allow the implants to be inserted using a cannulated technique for easier surgical procedure and better outcome, with the implants having sufficient wall thickness for the desired length to achieve bicortical purchase while keeping the shaft outer diameter of the implant to be similar to a diameter of the guide wire.

摘要: Provided herein are methods for inserting a bone fastener into a bone and securing an implant using a drilling guidewire. The method may include positioning a first bone plate having a first hole on a first side of a bone and drilling a channel through the bone from the first side of the bone to a second side of the bone using a drilling guidewire. The drilling guidewire may include a first portion having a drill unit and a second portion, the second portion extending from the second end of the first portion. Additionally, the diameter of the first portion may be greater than a diameter of the second portion. The method may further include sliding a bone fastener over the second portion of the drilling guidewire and driving the bone fastener through the first hole of the first bone plate and the channel in the bone.

摘要: Provided herein are surgical kit systems and a methods for using the same for treating thumb arthritis. The surgical kit system includes a spacer, a strand, a first anchoring mechanism, and a second anchoring mechanism. The spacer is configured to be disposed between the thumb metacarpal and the index metacarpal to prevent impingement between the thumb metacarpal and the index metacarpal. The strand is configured to be anchored to the second and first metacarpals by the first and second anchoring mechanism to suspend the thumb metacarpal, respectively.
