    Abstract: A system and method of detecting occupancy of a conditioned space are provided. The method includes controlling an environmental parameter of the conditioned space to a first selectable value using a first output signal of a process controller. The process controller configured to receive an indication of the environmental parameter of the conditioned space. The method also includes receiving a first indication of occupancy of the conditioned space using a passive occupancy sensor, receiving a second indication of occupancy of the conditioned space using an active occupancy sensor, and determining an occupancy state of the conditioned space based on a correlation between the first indication of occupancy and the second indication of occupancy. The method further includes controlling the environmental parameter of the conditioned space to a second selectable value based on the determined occupancy state.

    Abstract: A method of operating a remote wireless sensor that is part of a control system for an HVAC system serving a space is disclosed. The remote wireless sensor is capable of operating in at least a first higher power mode and a second lower power mode. The method includes wirelessly transmitting a signal to the remote wireless sensor to cause the sensor to operate in the second lower power mode upon detecting the absence of an occupant in the space.

    Abstract: A temperature control system and a method of controlling air conditioning in a multi-zone structure are disclosed. The temperature control system includes a forced-air primary conditioning unit including an air return duct, an air supply duct, and a circulator. The temperature control system also includes a secondary combustion heat source that operates independently of the forced-air primary conditioning unit, a smart circulator thermostat, and a remote temperature sensor. The at least one memory device includes executable instructions that when executed by the at least one processor cause the processor to receive a temperature value representative of a temperature of the structure, receive an indication of an operation of the secondary combustion heat source, generate a circulator operation signal based on a comparison of the received temperature value to a selectable temperature setpoint, and the received indication of an operation of an independent secondary combustion heat source.
