Abstract: In a refrigeration system comprising a compressor, expansion means, an evaporator and a condenser, the improvement comprising a normally open, spring-loaded valve positioned so that when the compressor is not operating a passage is provided between the compression chamber and the inlet to the compression chamber, and when the compressor is operating the passage is closed.
