摘要: A system for identifying and deleting records of hosts includes a local data manager. The local data manager identifies a discovery event associated with the host and a record type of record types, obtains, in response to identifying, all previously discovered records on the host associated with the record type from a host record repository, obtains discovered records associated with the record type and associated with the host, after obtaining all discovered records and previously discovered records, selects a previously discovered record of the previously discovered records, makes a determination that the previously discovered record does not match any discovered records of the discovered records and is not tagged with a soft delete tag or a hard delete tag, and in response to the determination, tags the previously discovered record with a soft delete tag, and notifies a data manager of modifications to the previously discovered records.

摘要: Described is a system for predictive storage policy selection for a cloud-based storage based on backup monitoring. The system may reduce storage costs incurred by a subscriber of a backup service that leverages a cloud-based storage. The system may monitor backup operations and collect backup statistics associated with the resource requirements of performing a backup to a cloud-based storage. To collect such information, the system may execute a specialized monitoring process that works in conjunction with a backup application and/or server. The collected information may be stored as part of a metadata database associated with the object storage. Accordingly, the system may retrieve the information from the metadata database to predict storage costs associated with performing future backup operations. Based on the predicted storage costs, the system may automatically select an appropriate storage policy.

摘要: Described is a system for synchronizing expiration times for incremental backup data stored on a cloud-based object storage. More particularly, the system may provide a layer of intelligence when updating the expiration times associated with backup data to ensure that a full recovery of the client data to a point-in-time of any incremental backup may be performed. To provide such a capability, the system may maintain specialized metadata identifying expiration times for objects and a list of objects required to perform a full recovery to a point-in-time for each of the performed backups (e.g. full or incremental). The system may access this metadata to identify which objects stored by a previous backup are still referenced by a subsequent backup. Based on the identified objects, the system may synchronize object expiration times to ensure objects are not prematurely deleted from the object storage.

摘要: Techniques described herein relate to methods for managing backup and restore operations. Such a method may include performing a vProxy health analysis to obtain vProxies assigned a healthy label; performing a confidence analysis to assign a health confidence score to each separate healthy label for each vProxy of the plurality of vProxies; filtering the plurality of vProxies to obtain a set of vProxies, each having a separate health confidence score over a confidence score threshold; calculating average throughput for each vProxy in the set of vProxies; assigning an optimal label to a vProxy of the set of vProxies based on the vProxy having an average throughput over a throughput threshold; and presenting a list of optimal vProxies comprising the vProxy to an entity configuring a backup job. The entity may select the vProxy for use in the backup job in response to being presented the optimal label of the vProxy.
