Abstract: A system can determine timeseries telemetry data of a first resource utilization of a data center maintained by the system. The system can predict, from the timeseries telemetry data, a second resource utilization of the data center will occur at a future time, the second resource utilization exceeding a threshold amount of resource utilization of the data center. The system can determine, based on an amount of time available until the future time, a selected location indicative of whether to install additional hardware at a first physical location of the data center, or a second physical location of the data center, wherein an amount of time associated with installing the additional hardware at the first physical location is less than an amount of time associated with installing the additional hardware at the second physical location. The system can install the additional hardware at the selected location.

Abstract: Generating any point in time backups without native snapshot generation. Production data is split such that a journal stream is sent to a data protection system, which may be local or remote. The journal stream includes a data stream and a metadata stream. Backups are synthesized at the data protection system by rolling at least a portion of the journal. A backup for any point in time represented in the journal can be synthesized.

Abstract: A system can maintain a first data center that comprises a virtualized overlay network and virtualized volume identifiers. The system can determine to perform a restore of data of the first data center to a second data center, the data comprising first instances of virtualized workloads. The system can transfer the data to the second data center. The system can configure the second data center with the virtualized overlay network and the virtualized volume identifiers. The system can operate the virtualized workloads on the second data center, the second instances of the virtualized workloads invoking the second instance of the virtualized overlay network and the second instance of the virtualized volume identifiers.

Abstract: One example method includes performing a recovery operation. A recovery operation is performed using streams rather than volumes in the cloud and without using compute instances or servers for do data or undo data. Do data is written to a do stream. Occasionally, a compute instance power on reads data from the do stream. After reading the data, chunks are read from cloud storage and updated. Data overwritten in the chunks are saved to an undo stream. A snapshot of the updated chunks and the associated undo stream is stored in the cloud storage.

Abstract: One example method includes intercepting an IO that is directed to a volume, writing the IO to a grid-CG that is one of a plurality of grid-CGs that collectively form a distributed CG, adding the IO to a stream journal associated with the grid-CG, receiving a bookmark request, in response to the bookmark request, inserting a bookmark in the stream journal, incrementing a splitter counter and broadcasting a splitter counter value to the grid-CGs in the distributed CG, and inserting the bookmark in respective stream journals of the grid-CGs in the distributed CG.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for consistency group replication with reduced resource consumption. An exemplary method comprises: obtaining, by one or more first replication appliances at a first location, one of (i) data generated by a monitored application; and (ii) metadata for each write operation generated by the monitored application, wherein a splitter function provides the data or metadata to the one or more first replication appliances based on a dynamic determination of whether the monitored application requires replication based on the data or the metadata based on predefined application consistency group type criteria; obtaining, by one or more of the first replication appliances, a snapshot comprising the data associated with each of the write operations since a prior snapshot based on the one of the data and the corresponding metadata; and providing the snapshot to one or more second replication appliances at a different location for storage in a replication journal.

Abstract: A computer program product, system, and method for generating coded fragments comprises receiving, at a primary data protection appliance (DPA), an I/O write for a user volume; determining a distributed consistency group (DCG) associated with the user volume, the DCG having a plurality of replica copies; determining one or more secondary DPAs assigned to one or more of the replica copies; sending the I/O write from the primary DPA to each of the secondary DPAs; and applying, at each of the secondary DPAs, the I/O write to at least one of the replica copies assigned to the secondary DPA.
