    Abstract: An improved Luer-lock fitting for hypodermic needles and methods for using the fitting to inject suspended solids into a body. The improved fitting includes a lumen having a curvedly tapered, distally decreasing throat region, which is believed to provide improved flow of suspended solids into the hypodermic needles. One fitting includes at least two threads to provide a more secure fitting able to withstand higher injection pressures. Another fitting includes rounded wings better able to withstand jarring by endoscope eyepieces and resisting being dislodged from position. One method includes injecting suspended solids into soft tissue such as sphincter mechanisms. One method includes injecting suspended solids into tissue surrounding a mechanism to correct defects.

    Abstract: A germicidal absorptive material for use in surgical packings, wound bandages, sanitary tampons and bed sore prevention and/or treatment uses is provided by a foam-like matrix of hydrophilic polyurethane polymer to which application-specific loads of a germicidal disinfectant dye have been made. Polyurethane polymer of various densities and thicknesses exhibits an exceptional ability to absorb different levels of a number of disinfectant dyes, both basic and acidic, such as gentian violet and methylene blue, respectively. The relationship between dye-load and application-specific uses permits a totally-bound gentian violet pad to be used as a conventional bandage or pad on a surface wound with the capability of preventing the incursion of external pathogens from entering the wound through the pad, where the pathogens are killed by the bound-dye. The wound exudate is absorbed safely by the pad, where wound-originating pathogens are also killed. When the loaded dye's concentration is saturated by exceeding the bound-dye limit, the limited free-dye is available to be delivered to the wound, particularly deep wounds, to rapidly kill pathogens in the wound. The free dye delivery pad can then be replaced by the bound-dye pad to absorb the wound exudate.

    Abstract: An improved dual gridded reflector antenna configuration which allows cross-polarization radiation to be scanned in any given direction. The dual-gridded reflector assembly includes a front parabolic reflector illuminated by a first source, and a second parabolic reflector illuminated by a second source. The second reflector is positioned adjacent to and behind the front reflector such that the center points of the reflectors align to define a center axis. Additionally, the first and second sources are positioned at different offsets with respect to the reflectors and have a respective rotated offset angle with respect to the center axis such that the sources define an antenna feed separation. By modifying the offsets and the rotated offset angles, the feed separation can be designed to have an inclination with respect to the north-south or east-west feed separation direction.

    Abstract: A spacecraft multilayer insulation blanket is made from multiple sheets of polyimide e.g. KAPTON. A preferred six sheet embodiment employs three carbon loaded sheets (26, 32, 34) separated by two dielectric sheets (28, 30). A third dielectric sheet (36) insulates the carbon loaded sheets from the spacecraft body. The outermost carbon loaded sheet (32) has a high resistivity and is primarily transmissive while the other two carbon loaded sheets (26, 34) have a low resistivity and are primarily reflective.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a stacking device associated with a bag making machine for producing bags from thermoplastic material. The device includes a stacking station at which successive bags are accumulated in a registered pile. Creation and maintenance of a registered stack is achieved by sequentially operable clamping bars being operationally related such that at least one bar is always in contact with the bag stack as it is being accumulated. On completion of a stack, which is determined by a conventional machine cycle counter, a longitudinally travelling clamp arrangement moves the stack away from the stacking station. The disclosed device is particularly suitable to process high density polyethylene.
