The image reading apparatus may include a base member including the base wall and a peripheral wall protruding orthogonally from the base wall to define an accommodation region; a movable member configured to reciprocate between one end portion of the accommodation region and another end portion of the accommodation region; a reading unit supported by the movable member; a cable having a first extending portion, a curve portion, and a second extending portion; and a contact reduction portion configured to reduce contact of the second extending portion of the cable with a side wall of the peripheral wall. Various embodiments of the contact reduction portion are also disclosed.

摘要： A document conveying device includes a conveying path and a feed unit. The feed unit includes a tray including a document positioning surface configured to receive documents thereon, in which the document positioning surface has a hole formed therethrough. The feed unit also includes a separation roller which is rotatably supported by a drive shaft extending in a direction orthogonal to a document conveying direction and is configured to contact an uppermost document of the documents and to separate and convey the uppermost document. The separation roller includes a first end and a second end opposite the first end. Moreover, the feed unit includes a document sensor including a detection portion configured to detect the documents and to selectively move between a first position in which the detection portion projects from the document positioning surface via the hole and a second position in which the detection portion is retracted from the document positioning surface via the hole. In addition, the feed unit includes a casing pivotably mounted on the drive shaft. The casing includes a plate extending adjacent to the first end of the separation roller in the document conveying direction, and the first end of the separation roller and the detection portion are positioned closer to the second end of the separation roller than the plate of the casing.

The first driven gear has a first spur gear and a cylinder fixed to the first spur gear. The cylinder is concentric with respect to the first spur gear and extends along the above direction. A hole is formed on the second driven gear. The hole is concentric with respect to a second spur gear and extends along the above direction. The second driven gear is rotatably mounted on the first driven gear by inserting the cylinder of the first driven gear into the hole of the second driven gear. The switch gear slides between a first position for engagement with the first driven gear and a second position for engagement with the second driven gear along the above direction. Since the driven gears are formed in this way, the position of the first driven gear in the above direction is not changed even when the second driven gear is not provided.
