Abstract: A golf ball has, on a surface thereof, a rugged pattern composed of a land and a large number of dimples. A method for designing the rugged pattern includes the steps of: (1) assuming a large number of circles on a surface of a phantom sphere; (2) assuming a large number of generating points 16 based on positions of the large number of circles; (3) assuming a large number of Voronoi regions 18 on the surface of the phantom sphere by a Voronoi tessellation based on the large number of generating points 16; and (4) assigning a dimple and a land to the surface of the phantom sphere based on contours of the large number of Voronoi regions 18.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a golf ball traveling a great distance on driver shots and on iron shots. The present invention provides a golf ball comprising a spherical core including an inner layer and an outer layer, and a cover, wherein a difference (HX+1−HX−1) between a hardness (HX+1) at a point outwardly away in a radial direction from a boundary between the inner layer and the outer layer of the spherical core by 1 mm and a hardness (HX−1) at a point inwardly away in the radial direction from the boundary between the inner layer and the outer layer of the spherical core by 1 mm is 0 or more in Shore C hardness, a surface hardness (HX+Y) of the spherical core is more than 65 in Shore C hardness, an angle α of a hardness gradient of the inner layer is 0° or more, a difference (α−β) between the angle α and an angle β of a hardness gradient of the outer layer is 0° or more, a thickness of the cover is 3 mm or less, a difference (Hc−Hx+y) between a hardness (Hc) of the cover and the surface hardness (HX+Y) of the spherical core is 2 or more in Shore C hardness, and the cover has a highest hardness among the constituent members of the golf ball.

Abstract: A golf ball that enhances flight performance is provided. A golf ball according to the present invention includes a spherical core, at least one cover member that covers the core, and a coating layer that covers the cover member configuring the outermost layer. A plurality of dimples are formed in the cover member configuring the outermost layer. The thickness of the coating layer is 5.0 μm or more. Roughness is formed on the surface of the coating layer after coating the cover member configuring the outermost layer. The maximum height Rz and the arithmetic average roughness Ra of the surface of the coating layer satisfy the relationship Rz≧Ra×6.0.

Each of the hemispheres has a high-latitude region 14, a mid-latitude region 18 and a low-latitude region 16. The high-latitude region 14 has a latitude range of 40° or greater but 90° or less. The mid-latitude region 18 has a latitude range of 20° or greater but less than 40°. The low-latitude region 16 has a latitude range of 0° or greater but less than 20°. The number of planes that can divide a dimple pattern of the hemisphere so that divided dimple patterns are mirror symmetry to each other is one.
